Do you ever just look at a car and say, "Yes!" With its metallic paint, nicely appointed interior, and modern fuel-injected V8 power, this rare 1963 Chevrolet II Nova convertible fits in with the pony car crowd but gallops in its own direction.
You don't see too many of these Nova convertibles around do you? They cost about as much as some Impalas when new, and so few were willing to spend the extra cash on a droptop. It gave the convertible Nova lower production numbers where you were over 10 times more likely to see a coupe or sedan than a ragtop. Today that makes for quite a rare classic where scarcity buys true distinction. These Chevy II Novas debuted a few years before the Mustang, but this one has a lot of that same small size with big-time flare that we loved from the pony cars. You see it in the factory items that have been nicely maintained like bright grille and wide chrome bumpers. But the real shine of this one is on the modern application of Dark Red Metallic paint. There are barely any miles on this classic since its restoration, and so it retains that fresh clearcoat luster that makes this sunshine-friendly droptop pop every time you take it out for a weekend cruise. In fact, they liked the paint so much, it was applied to the custom 15-inch steelie wheels with bright half-moon hubcaps for a full uniform presentation.
With the touch of a button, the taut black soft top electrically folds down to reveal a deep black interior – so you get that perfect color combo of the dark red and black no matter if the top is on or off. There has been a quality investment here to deliver both well-presented original materials as well as plenty of great upgrades. It starts with the bucket seats that follow the factory pattern. You gaze-across the original-style dash, and it all looks like a cool classic droptop should. But then you twist the key, and beyond the upgraded sport steering wheel, the gauges begin to glow a cool digital red. There's an AM/FM/CD stereo for all the best modern tunes, and you even have provisions for modern R134a air conditioning.
But your favorite upgrade in this whole package will be revealed when you open the hood. These first-generation Novas would eventually carry the famous 327 small-block, and this one goes wild with that history. That's because it has a modern 5.3-liter fuel-injected Vortec V8 living under the hood. That means a serious upgrade to the growl of the dual exhaust and a serious power boost to this lightweight Nova body. But more than just a sleek sleeper droptop, the modern powerplant also adds reliability. This is combined with other great features like a four-speed automatic transmission w/overdrive, an aluminum radiator with electric fan, power steering, and front disc brakes. Now you've also got the recipe for one of the easiest cruising classics around.
