For sale in our Houston Showroom is this 1974 De Tomaso Pantera. The Pantera is a mid-engined sports car produced by the De Tomaso car company of Italy from 1971 to 1992. An Italian designed by Ford powered sports car was a collaboration between Ford and an Italian design firm. Powered by a 351 CiD Ford V8 that produces 330 HP & a high torque curve that is very healthy through the power band. It is original to the car and has only logged 17k miles since 74. It is paired to a smooth shifting 5-speed manual transmission that makes this car move. The car drives very well and all drive train components are in great working condition and the low miles is a major factor in their condition. The exterior of the car is in great shape with the original yellow paint that is still of high quality and condition. No dings, dings, or scratches on the car to be seen. The body lines are straight and body panel gaps are even. The bumpers, trim, glass, & its original wheels are all in very nice condition. The all black vinyl interior is beautiful and shows well. The dash is crack free, the seats are tear free, & the unique center console fits perfectly. The black on yellow color combo is a nice touch and contrasts well. De Tomaso Automobili SpA was founded by the Argentine-born Alejandro de Tomaso in Modena Italy 1959. Originally, they produced various prototypes and racing cars, including a Formula One car for Frank Williams' team in 1970. De Tomaso produced three classic sports cars
Vallelunga a mid-engined sports car with an aluminium backbone chassis and 104 bhp (78 kW) Ford Kent engine, reaching a top speed of 215 km/h. Only 53 were made in total.
Mangusta, introduced in 1966 was the first De Tomaso produced in significant numbers. The car had an American Ford 4.7-litre iron-block V8 engine and steel and aluminium coupé bodywork from Ghia. Roughly 400 Mangustas were built before production ended in 1971.
De Tomaso's most famous (and numerous) model Pantera appeared in 1971 with a 351 Cleveland Ford V8 and a low, wedge-shaped body designed by Ghia's Tom Tjaarda. In total 6,128 Panteras were produced.
