With classic good looks and a strong Mopar heritage this 1973 Challenger for sale has everything going for it. Under the hood is the peppy 318 CID V8 that seemed to find it’s way into just about everything with a pentastar on it. The mighty small block 318 was well know in the circles I ran in as a young man. It was known to be high reving and full on torque through a wide band, producing power with a slight touch of full slam of the right foot. Backing this Dodge small block is almost certainly the venerable 727 torque flight 3 speed automatic transmission which is controlled with the Slap Stick ® shifter I believe it was also called the auto stick®. This shifter allowed the driver to shift into the next gear with a gentle nug or a hardly slap and would never slide past 2nd and into 3rd allowing the Camaro beside you to put a gap between your front bumper and his rear. Most, if not all current ratchet shifters owe a nod to the engineers at Chrysler, as they copied the idea. The high back bucket seats hold you firmly in place as you look out over that wide, long hood. Grip the steering wheel tight with one hand, the other on the auto stick and prepare for lift off.
