Ford Fairlane 390 V8 1967

General description : GREAT DRIVING FAIRLANE! S CODE 390 V8, AUTO, PWR FRT DISCS, CLEAN PAINT/INTERIOR

If you think the Mustang GTA is special, prepare to meet its big brother, the 1967 Fairlane GTA. Packing a snarling 390 cubic inch V8 and an automatic transmission (the "A" part of GTA), as well as sparkling good looks, this is a rare piece of Ford muscle.
Recently restored, this GTA is a great-looking piece of muscle that you don't see very often. Vivid code W Clearwater Aqua is definitely not stealthy but it looks awesome on the Fairlane. With a more grown-up look than the Mustang, this Fairlane is a great study in contrasts, with a black rocker stripe to match the vinyl top, so it looks grown-up, not like a boy racer. Stacked headlights, the original steel hood, and proper GTA badges all work together to give this Fairlane a sporty look with a touch of formality. The paint and bodywork are in excellent shape, of course, and showing up in this car generates a lot of attention on the street and at shows. The top is in excellent condition with no signs of trouble underneath, the bumpers look great, and the rest of the trim appears to be original and in good order. Other equipment includes an "egg crate" grille plus Ford's favorite jet-inspired taillights that were a Fairlane trademark for years.
The black bucket seat interior was restored not too long ago and still looks very fresh. Comfortable buckets and the dark-colored interior is a great choice if you want to take your driving seriously. Black carpets match the dash pad, and the new door panels look right and show quite well. The two-spoke steering wheel isn't quite what you'd expect in a piece of muscle like this, but it's correct and when performance mattered, the frilly stuff always got left behind. It's also kind of nice to see the original AM radio living in the dash, suggesting that this car has always been a fairly original piece that hasn't been extensively modified by previous owners. Gauges cover the basics of speed and fuel level, and aside from some light fading, they're in very good condition, too. The Fairlane offers a good-sized back seat that real adults can use. The trunk is also correctly restored with a correct mat and carries a full-sized spare tire.
The biggest engine on all GTAs, Fairlanes and Mustangs alike, was an S-code 390 cubic inch V8, which was a great performer in both platforms. Judging by appearances, the entire powertrain was restored, which explains the nicely detailed engine bay and big performance potential. Correct Ford Blue paint, an open-element air cleaner with reproduction decals, and a big Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor ensure that this GTA runs as well as it did in 1967. A new dual exhaust system gives it the right engine note that burbles away happily behind you while you're driving, and, of course, the requisite C6 3-speed automatic transmission is quick-witted and ready to have fun. 3.25 gears on a Track-Lok limited slip make for an entertaining experience on the road, and the chassis is clean and well-finished, if not detailed for show. Handsome Torque Thrust wheels were a popular 1960s performance look, and they wear modern 225/50/17 front and 235/55/17 rear performance radials.
So if you've outgrown your Mustang, this Fairlane GTA provides a more grown-up alternative with plenty of room for friends. Call today!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
