This 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 is for sale in our Indianapolis Showroom. This car can transport you back to the end of the Jet-Age design era for automobile history, and it will do it in style. The 63 Fairlane was a closer to a shrunken down Galaxie than anything else. The front end was a spitting image of the Galaxie while the rear retained the small tailfins giving it a unique look. This example is extremely nice and with the modifications it has can be driven daily in comfort. The body is straight, with no signs of filler a magnet will stick no matter where you put it. The paint was laid on with a precision touch giving the car a show quality finish. Under the hood is a 351W that has been built using some high-end components. Starting with a comp roller cam and a set of Hi Po heads, this 351 sings at higher RPM’s. The Weiand intake and Holley 650-barrel feed the setup a perfect mixture of gas and air giving this 351 a good amount of power. Hooked up to a Tremec 5 speed you now have that extra gear for when your running down the interstate. The rear end is a sturdy 8.8 with 31 spline axles making it durable enough for this setup. The Cal-Trac setup eliminates any worries of wheel hop with the chromoly frame ties there just in case. The Fatman Mustang II style front end keeps the car nice and straight during those straight-line cruises while making those back-country roads a blast to carve up. The 4-wheel disc setup allows for much better pedal feel not to mention cutting the distance in probably half. The interior of the car is comfortable and with the addition of AC and heat this truly is a car you can use all year round. If you have been thinking about getting a great classic that is not quite your mainstream car but still unbelievably cool this 63 Fairlane is the car for you. About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
