The beautiful Mercedes 190 SL is a two door convertible launched in 1955. Built on a shortened saloon platform, the styling and engineering of the car is inspired from the iconic 300 SL. Powered by a peppy twin carb 4 cylinder straight engine which was derived from the 6 cylinder 300SL, this vehicle provides the driver a most enjoyable ride.
This particular car is beautifully presented in the classic Mercedes colour combination of Silver with Red interior, which enhance the elegant lines of this roadster. Delivered new to its first and we believe only family owner in California in 1956 via Max Hoffman, the US importer for Mercedes, this car spent most of its life under the sunny and dry American West Coast climate. In 2009, the last owner took the car to Italy where it has been thoroughly refurbished mechanically and cosmetically. In 2010, the car obtained the very desirable FIVA Card, the passport for entering this Mercedes to exclusive internationnal events.
A thorough road test reveals a very together car, with a responsive engine, strong servo-assisted brakes and positive steering, which will give its new owner a superb driving experience as well as a sound investment opportunity, at a fraction of the price of a Mercedes 300SL Roadster.
