BODYWORK/TRIM
The beneficiary of a professional, frame-off restoration, this slick '69 Camaro features a seamless coat of DuPont ChromaPremier 99K that's highlighted by a sweet pair of pearl rally stripes. Take one look down the sides of the car's rock-solid body and it becomes very obvious that great care was taken to ensure every panel is aligned to better-than-factory standards. Step closer to that body's mirror-like pigment and check out its straight and ripple-free surfaces, which are a product of both clean OEM sheetmetal and high quality replacement panels. Grab the pivotal pieces of that well-adjusted sheetmetal and experience the kind of excellent fit that's right at home reflecting a summertime car show. Then step back to admire one very well-done pro-tourer that's built to exacting specifications thanks to a great combination of skilled workmanship and first-rate finishing techniques.
On the sacred tree of hot rodding, pro-touring foliage, along with its pro-street brethren, often receives the brightest light. That means high end, high profile cars must have exceptional looks to back up their big claims. And nowhere is that dedicated attention to aesthetics more prevalent than this Camaro's top notch detailing. At the front of the coupe's body, a glossy grille hangs a familiar 'RS' emblem between vacuum-operated headlights, a show-chromed bumper and modern parking lamps. Above that grille, a traditional cowl induction hood leads the eye to smoked glass that's framed in straight stainless trim, traced by body-matched drip rails and flanked by F2 sport mirrors. At the sides of that hood, bold 'RS' brandings and bright GM door handles combine with optional RS louvers and billet marker lamps to add just the right amount of flash to a tough profile. And at the back of the car, a small 'HARDCORE' script hangs between flush taillights, a D80 spoiler, a second show-chromed bumper and a slightly modified roll pan.
ENGINE
Gaze upon this Chevy's smoothed engine bay and you'll find 392 cubic inches of stroked and twin-turbocharged fury! Professionally assembled by the folks at Speedsouth Active Power Racing, this serene mill is capable of producing 1,200 horsepower right off the showroom floor. At the top of the buff black block, fresh K&N filters pipe wind into polished, crisscrossed and TiAL-supported turbos that storm F.A.S.T. XFI fuel injection. That perfect air/fuel mixture falls into an Edelbrock Victor E intake that's bolted between free-flowing heads and polished valve covers. At the back of those heads, a quality MSD distributor sequences fire between an MSD 6AL box, an MSD Blaster 2 coil and familiar Taylor plug wires. At the sides of those wires, ceramic coated headers funnel spent gases into large-diameter tail pipes. And in front of those headers, a beefy Ron Davis radiator, which is sandwiched between a polished overflow tank, a snazzy cowl and two electric puller fans, circulates water past a mirrored March serpentine system. While this engine's main purpose is to go straight at a very high rate of speed, it's still very impressive to look at. And accessories like Painless wiring, braided hoses, AN fittings and chrome hood supports ensure it'll wow showgoers and gearheads alike.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Take a gander under this wicked F-Body and you'll find a fully detailed chassis that mixes new age technology with old school durability. Rock-solid floorpans wear a smooth coat of DuPont ChromaPremier and, save for hours of buffing, are every bit as nice as the car's first rate exterior. At the center of those floors, a turbo-friendly Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed hangs a polished B&M pan between a polished flywheel cover and remote, finned cooler. Nail the gas and a narrowed 12-bolt spins power through a posi-trac differential and Moser 4.11 gears. Stopping is a cinch thanks to a hydra-boosted Wilwood system, which mixes four polished calipers with four drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust is handled by 3-inch, ceramic coated pipes that swirl spent gases through an X-shaped crossover, polished Magnaflows and large-diameter turndowns. At the front of the car, a Detroit Speed suspension system mixes modern power steering with tubular control arms and VariShock coil-overs. At the back of the car, a rugged 4-link suspension mixes high quality mini tubs with two more VariShock coil-overs. And torque melts the pavement thanks to striking Asanti wheels which spin 245/35ZR19 and 345/25ZR20 Nitto Invos around painted spokes and pearled lips. As you can tell by our pictures, not a detail was missed on this Chevy's fully-sorted undercarriage. And every part, from its Moroso oil pan and proven Powermaster starter to its custom fuel tank and polished differential cover, has been carefully planned and professionally executed.
INTERIOR
Behind this Camaro's solid-closing doors you'll find a $24K Paul Atkins interior that wraps firm leather buckets in high style and rich comfort. At the front of the car, a custom, suede-topped dash hangs a slick set of Auto Meter Phantom gauges above a premium JVC audio system, Vintage Air climate control and pushbutton ignition. Below that dash, a custom console, which is loosely based on GM's factory-correct piece, anchors a short shifter behind Auto Meter Phantom accessory gauges. Below that console, high quality carpet rides between billet foot pedals, custom sill plates and thick, 'RS' branded floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, suede-topped door panels twist small chrome handles in front of big speakers, aluminum pulls and integrated puddle lamps. Above those panels, a supple suede headliner centers a chrome mirror between suede A-pillars, suede sail panels and small courtesy lamps. In front of the driver, a snazzy Momo Nero wheel spins a flat-bottom rim around a satin-finished tilt steering column. And behind the passengers, a custom package tray hangs big speakers over a classy, custom upholstered trunk.
