Allgemeine Beschreibung :
For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1980 Dodge Mirada. When's the last time you saw one of these? This one is far from original and is obviously much faster than the original. Power comes from a high compression race engine with 500 cubic inches. Starting with a 400 big block and with a little boring and stroking, now you have 499 cubic inches. The goodies consist of Indy Sr. cylinder heads, Hardland sharp rockers, Smith Bros. push rods, Milidon gear drive, single line oil pump, Indy 4150 intake manifold with a two inch Dominator adaptor, 1050 Barry Grant carburetor, MSD distributor and coil with an MSD 7 AL box. Anyone can throw high performance parts at an engine, but it will only work well if you know what you're doing. Having the wrong parts will not make for a happy engine, but get it right and you'll find yourself with a very healthy and reliable engine that make great power. The engine is sending the power through a built 727 Torque Flight transmission with a brake, 8" convertor and a trans blanket. Next down the line is a Dana 60 housing 5.13 gears. This power isn't worth anything if you can't put it to the ground. Out back is a set of Good Year drag slicks measuring 32x14 wrapped around Weld racing wheels. 5/8" studs keep the wheels on and slowing things down is thanks to a factory front end with disc brakes and drums in the rear. Protecting the driver is a drive shaft loop and a full12 point Funny Car roll cage that has been NHRA certified. Inside is a delay box, Cheata air shifter, overhead switch box, Autometer gauges, removable transmission tunnel, removable steering wheel and a window net. Race cars are all about saving weight, its free horsepower. This one utilizes a removable fiberglass front end, plexi glass windows, aluminum firewall, gutted interior with nice tin work and a fiberglass deck lid with an aluminum wing. For a serious and unique drag car, look no further. This 1980 Dodge Mirada is ready for business. Call our St. Louis showroom at 618-271-3000 or stop by for a closer look.
