LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1972 De Tomaso Pantera
The Pantera was the result of an Argentinian racing driver (Alejandro De Tomaso), Italian engineering and American muscle. The styling was handled by Tom Tjarda while Giampaolo Dallara was responsible for the structural design. Looking at the vehicle, it greatly resembles that of the Lamborghini offspring. The reasoning for this resemblance could be attributed to Giampaolo Dallara who was also aided in the designing of the Lamborghini Miura.
Following the success of the GT40, Ford Motor Company was considering the production of a more suitable exotic street car in 1969. DeTomaso’s current project, the Pantera, was similar to what Ford had in mind. An Italian exotic with the heart of an American muscle car is a magnificent representation of DeTomaso and Ford’s best efforts. Equipped with fully independent suspension, upper and lower A-Arms, coil-over shock absorbers, front and rear sway bars, 4-wheel power disc brakes, cast magnesium wheels by Campagnolo and rack-and-pinion steering. The front compartment houses the brake booster, master cylinder, battery and tool kit; the rear trunk unit, easily removable for engine access, holds a considerable amount of luggage. The interior features an aggressive cockpit design, full instrumentation, factory air conditioning and power windows.
This Pantera was built in May 1972 and delivered to Wyatt Mercury in Cleveland, Ohio when new. It is one of 91 factory painted in the Bronze Metallic color and is in splendid condition with very low miles. The 330 horsepower 351-cid V-8 is mated to a five-speed ZF manual transmission. It has freshly refinished alloy wheels and is truly eye-catching. Noted features include air conditioning, power four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, heater and defroster, dual exhaust, bumper guards and tool kit. Also of note is presence of the original seat belts, carpeting and felt liner in the front and rear storage compartments.
The car has been maintained cosmetically and is sure to stand out in any muscle car or Italian show field. With its low original mileage and originality, this Pantera is a collector grade investment.
This vehicle is offered by Legendary Motorcar Company on consignment.
