We are extremely proud to offer this beautiful example of a rare Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona that has previous race history and was first registered in the UK in July 2012. The history of the car is documented in our folder on the car.

The car features a V12 DOHC 4.3L Engine

The Ferrari 365 GTB/4, better known by the unofficial name Ferrari Daytona, is a grand tourer automobile produced from 1968 to 1973. It was first introduced to the public at the Paris Auto Salon in 1968 and replaced the 275 GTB/4. The Daytona was replaced by the mid-engined 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer in 1973.

The cars were not raced by the official Scuderia Ferrari team, but by a range of private entrants. They enjoyed particular success in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with results including a 5th overall in 1971, followed by GT class wins in 1972, 1973 and 1974. In 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4s took the first 5 places of the GT class.

Our car was the only 365GTB/4 to compete in South East Asia. It was imported new from Ferrari into Singapore in 1972 by Mr. Yeo Kian Peng (the owner) of main dealer Wing Ming Auto, Jurong, agents for Ferrari and Lamborghini in the 1960s and early 1970s.2
The car was not first registered for the road with the Singapore Registry of Vehicles until 23 Feb 1979, running on trade plates before then as it was used primarily for racing and display under Mr Yeo's ownership.
Our car was raced through the Singapore Motor Sports Club at the Kallang sprint, Dover Kilo and similar events, driven by Ivor Thevathasan as well as Mr Peng and others in the 1970's. There were no Group IV events in SE Asia at the time, so the Daytona remained in standard cosmetic trim during its early competition years. There is a note in the history file that mechanically our 365 was "a high spec car with a HC engine", but there is no confirmation of this yet.
Motoring and property tycoon Peter Kwee owned this particular car after KP Yeo and maintained it unused in his existing collection before selling it to Stanley Leong, a noted race car owner in the region, in 1986. Mr Leong campaigned several cars in the 60's and early 70's and continued to campaign through the end of the 1990's through the MSVCR and the SMSA
It has been noted that the Daytona was sent to the Ferrari factory Customer Assistance department at Maranello at some time prior to Mr Leong's ownership "for rebuild or repair". This information is with Tony Willis of Maranello's Historic Department for confirmation.
Nick Leong has confirmed that our car was raced under his father's ownership through the Johor Motor Club at various events and the Classic Car Club of Hong Kong at the Kelab Motor Johor circuit. This included the PCHK/CCCHK Championships (driven by Nick Leong), HKPCMC Events and the FIA sanctioned SEATCZC/HKAA race meetings (driven by Stanley Leong).
James W.F. Leong (no relation) of Ah Chow Motor Co. has confirmed that they did the Group IV bodywork modifications as per the homologation specs in or about 1996 so the car could compete in other events.
This Daytona suffered an engine bay fire in 2001. The bodywork was repaired in Singapore before being sent to GTO Engineering in the UK in 2003 for mechanical repair including a full engine rebuild. The car was returned to Singapore in Apr 2007 and was put up for sale shortly thereafter.
This Daytona then spent a period between 2007 and 2011 unused, in storage and moving between motor traders until it arrived in the UK in early 2012, where it was purchased by Paul Coombes of SVS Ltd, who was the first to register it in the UK, in Jul 2012. It was subsequently sold to its current owner in Nov 2012.
Please note: This car qualifies for all major racing events, as it has a current FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP).
The mileage remains an impressively low 19,500 due to the primary race history.

Under ytspänningen växte dock.
