AC Cobra Replica 350 CID V8 1966

General description : This 1966 AC Cobra is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The AC Cobra is one of the most sought after and exclusive cars ever built. With original ones being well into the 6 figures and some well into the 7 figures. With the average guy not being able to pay that kind of money the “kit car” industry took off. This kit is fiberglass like the rest of them with the fit and finish being very clean. The body and paint even though nice are not what makes this Cobra. What’s underneath that shell is what really sets this beauty apart from the rest. Start with the chassis, donated from a 1982 Corvette this thing is all about performance. With the 4-wheel independent suspension enhancing not only the handling characteristics but the ride quality as well. Under the hood is a 350-small block 4 bolt main that runs out extremely strong. The Carter AFB 4 BRL sets on top with it feeding just the right amount of fuel. The headers are fed to those classic side pipes giving the car that rumble that everyone loves. The TH350 transmission has been built to handle the power and yes this is an automatic Cobra, one of the first I have seen. The interior has been done in black to match the outside with a custom gauge cluster really giving it a finished look. The tan top can easily be installed for some protection from the sun, but this snake was built for top down fun. If you have been wanting a Cobra that you can simply drop in drive, go this 66 is the needle in the haystack. Options on this 1966 AC Cobra include; AM/FM radio, cd player, manual top, power brakes, power steering, seat belts, Vinyl interior, and aluminum alloy rims and radial tires. About AC
AC Cars formerly known as Auto Carriers, is one of the oldest independent car makers in Britain that has its roots going as early as 1903.

AC appeared to a greater public with AC Ace, a lightweight roadster designed by John Tojeiro with a Weller-designed 2-Litre engine. Soon after, car dealer and racing driver Ken Rudd fitted his own competition Ace with a pre-war BMW-designed, Bristol-produced six-cylinder engine. This combination became known AC Ace-Bristol in 1957 -the car raced at Le Mansin 1957 and 1958.

In 1962, AC was approached by a certain Carroll Shelby to use a small block Ford v8 engine in the Ace, producing the AC Cobra -The legend was born, initially with 260 & 289 engines.

When switching to a bigger 427 engine, a completely new chassis was needed. In collaboration with Ford’s computers and the experience of the AC engineers, the new MKIII was born with thicker main tubes for the chassis, huge cross-braced shock towers and coil springs all around. This, along with the "side oiler" 427 engine, made the new AC Cobra MKIII a formitable race car. Initially a commercial failure, has now become the most replicated auto mobile ever.
