This Austin Healey 3000 Mk1 was first registered in 1961. The 3000 Mk1 was the first of the so-called “Big Healey's”. This car has been fully restored and mechanically overhauled in the past. The chassis is as sound as a bell and rust-free. It had a re-spray in an original Healey red colour and is without blemish. The hood is in very good condition and is a tight fit. The matching tonneau is there for those days that allow the hood to be down. The very fine condition of the bodywork has correctly aligned shut lines. This Austin Healey also sports a badge bar, spot lights, an overdrive and wire wheels. The interior trim has been fully refurbished with black and red piped leather seats, new carpets and dashboard. This car is a British Heritage certified, matching numbers, Austin Healey in the factory issued finish. The straight-six runs magnificently and always produces more than adequate power. About Austin-Healey
Austin-Healey was a British sports car make created as a joint-venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and the Donald Healey Motor Company. First Healey model, Healey 100, was based on Austin A90 Atlantic mechanicals and developed by Donald Healey to be build in-house. They finished a single Healey Hundred for the 1952 London Motor Show. Leonard Lord, managing director of Austin was so impressed by the design that a deal was duly struck with Healey and the car was renamed the Austin-Healey 100 overnight. Austin Healey was born. 100 derived into 100-six, and different 3000 versions before they quit the production in 1968 as the basic design had finally become obsolete.
