General description :
This very special Bentley Continental Drophead Coupe, produced on the 14th May 1986, was supplied to Carriage House Motors of New York, the USA. It is amongst one of the most exclusive post-war Bentleys ever made. Over the 10-year production span between 1984-1994 only 421 cars were ever produced. In 2012 the car left Newark for the Netherlands and since then has remained in the same ownership for over 6 years. A Bentley/ Rolls Royce specialist has been trusted with the upkeep, with the invoices attesting to more than excellent care. This car is in perfect working order and drives flawlessly. From 2012 only 4000 miles have been added to the total 58,954 mileage. The car remains in excellent condition. It has its original ‘Masons Black’ finish with grey over red finelines, a black with grey piping interior trim and a matching black hood. The original interior finish is of a top-quality, including the lambs wool car mats. The woodwork has been perfectly restored. It has many factory-fitted options such as electric windows, memory seat and mirrors and a double-din radio, aircon and cruise control. The item that causes this Bentley to stand out are the bespoke door-mounted twin mini-bars with leather-bound Tudor crystal glass and decanters sets. The original toolkit, owners manual, car wallet, original tonneau cover and storage bag are all present. The Bentley has naturally retained its original, matching numbers, engine. The Bentley has a clean car fax and Factory Record. A top-quality example with a Triple Black finish! Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975! Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.
Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930
In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
