Bentley S3 3 1965

General description : After 9 years of the first post-war Bentley, the MK VI / R-Type, the illustrious clientele curiously awaited the successor. In 1955, the Bentley S 1 was introduced. Conservative, with a separate chassis but with a stylish line by John Bentley. The S 1 met the taste of clientele exactly. Noteworthy: more Bentley S 1s were sold than the RR Silver Cloud I, the sister model. In 1959 the Bentley S 2 was introduced with almost the same body, but the all-new V8 engine with significantly more power. The completion of the series was the S 3 from 1962 to 1965, easily recognizable by the twin headlights. Our Bentley S 3 had only one owner in the UK and has been registered in Germany since 1987. It was thoroughly revised and also painted in the original color combination back then. In 2017, it received a major service including brakes, suspension and ventilation were restored. The size of the car is not noticeable thanks to the power steering and the excellent performance of the V8 engine. This Bentley moves really well and provides plenty of driving pleasure.

About Bentley
Before becoming a mere subsidiary to Rolls-Royce, Bentley was an independent Automaker famous for the "fastest lorries in the world" e.i Bentley 4½ Litre.

Good ol' Bentley boys (A group of wealthy British motorists, mainly Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, S.C.H. "Sammy" Davis, and Dr Dudley Benjafield ) -in their trusty Bentley cars- took four consecutive victories at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930

In 1931 Bentley was taken over British Central Equitable Trust that later proved to be a front for Rolls-Royce Limited. Unhappy with his role at Rolls-Royce, W.O. Bentley left the company when his contract expired in 1935 duly joining Lagonda. This was beginning of which ultimately led Bentley cars to become more or less badge-engineered Rolls-Royce.
