General description :
1987 Buick Grand National This is a beautiful example of the fastest production car of 1987 with a ton of upgrades including the OEM AstroRoof. The engine has less than 1,000 miles since being built-out by revered Grand National Northwest with almost too many aftermarket improvements to mention. The exterior is finished in black and sits on Corvette style 17 inch aluminum wheels with turbo symbol center cap decals and high- performance tires giving it a tough, custom look. It is equipped with the rare Astroroof option that functions perfectly. The trunk has a carpet covered trunk storage compartment and the engine bay is detailed just as you would expect. Under the stock looking exterior is where all the magic with this car lies. The base of the drive-train is the already potent GN turbocharged, 3.8 liter, V-6 tied to a 4-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive configuration. That is where the stock similarities stop and where Grand National Northwest and a few other helping hands stepped in to perform their wizardry. Here is a list of all the upgrades and improvements: Turbo: TE-44 with TiAL external wastegate, in-cab remote boost control. Intake: Cold air intake, intake manifold ported by Ken Bodhaine. Heads: Ported by Ken Bodhaine, larger SS valves, hardened rocker shafts, custom painted valve covers. Camshaft: 206/206 Roller. Fueling: MSD 50# Injectors, upgraded fuel pump, Alky Control methanol injection. Exhaust: Ceramic coated OEM headers (Pacific Performance Coatings), ATR downpipe, cat delete, performance mufflers, heat blanket on downpipe and passenger side header to protect AC components. Ignition: Custom cut plug wires (GNNW). Safety: Driveshaft loop. ECM: Turbotweak chip (with spares), Scanmaster in cab. Aesthetics: Custom painted valve covers, turbo shield, and brake vacuum reservoir. AC: New AC pump, charged and tested AC system (Auto Air/Heating), NOS replacement blower motor. Inside the car you will find a loaded interior with two tone like-new seats, console, air conditioning, cruise control, power everything, custom 140-mph speedometer (Kirban’s overlay and calibration), custom turbo emblem in place of tachometer, new professionally installed (Sound Advice) Bluetooth-equipped Kenwood stereo with OEM Premium Sound Package and trunk mounted sub-woofers, Kirban’s aluminum horn bezel, pillar mounted boost gauge and new weather stripping on the door sills. For purists, the original, unmodified instrument cluster is included with the sale. The combination of a smallish turbo, roller cam, and head porting means it spools hard and fast. It has only been tested a few times on the drag strip, with the boost dialed all the way down and on street tires requiring a gentle touch….but it still trapped at 115+ mph in the ¼ mile. Own this sleeping beast of a car for only $28,900.00! This car is being represented for a collector in the Seattle, Washington area.
Buick, today an American automobile division of the American manufacturer General Motors (GM), was founded in 1899 as the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company, making it the oldest car make in the US.
To us, the most memorable models in Buick's line up have to be the late 40's Roadmasters and 60's stylish Rivieras with strong Italian influences.
