Chevrolet Camaro 454 V8 1969

General description : 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Yenko Tribute With the new age of muscle cars arriving in the 60's Chevrolet released the Camaro as their competition for the Mustangs and Barracudas of the world.  Unfortunately there was an official order from GM corporate preventing any engine larger than 400 c.i. to be installed in these cars.  Dealership owner and race car driver, Don Yenko, knew this put Camaro at a big disadvantage and was adamant that there was a market for a more powerful Camaro.  He decided he would work around GMs rules and order cars to be modified himself with a larger 427 motor.  These were dubbed the Yenko Super Camaros.  Mr. Yenko proved that he was onto something as they were met with such popularity that in 1969 the dealership actually worked directly with Chevrolet to start making some modifications on the factory assembly line.  Production numbers were very small for these cars with less than 500 being produced between 67 and 69.  The car you see here is a not a real Yenko but a very well built Yenko S/C tribute car.  It was a full frame off build that took many years to completed.  The paint and interior were finished out between 2006 and 2008 at which point the car was ready to be shown.  It is painted in a very nice Silver with the correct Yenko style accents in Black down the sides and on the hood.  It is in excellent condition but since it was driven to local cruise nights has developed a few small rock chips here and there.  The body is rust free and has been upgraded with the functional cowl induction hood and rear spoiler.  All of the glass is in great shape as is all of the chrome, stainless trim and Yenko Camaro badges.  The car has a very tough stance and rolls on Cragar SS wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.  Although the engine is dressed as the 427 Yenko motor it is actually a larger 454 H.O. GM Mark 6 crate motor.  It is rated at 425 HP and 500 Ft/lbs of torque.  It has been fitted with an Edelbrock aluminum intake and Holley 750 double pumper carburetor.  The car has an awesome sound through the Hooker headers into 2 1/2 inch aluminized exhaust with X pipe and Flowmaster mufflers.  If that rumble isn't enough for you then just pop open the QTP exhaust cutouts via a switch mounted in the ashtray inside the car.  Backing up the motor is a Muncie 4 speed routed back to the 12 bolt positraction rear end.  Disc brakes have been added up front and are power assisted.  It also has power steering with a Z28 steering box.  The chassis under the car has been stiffened with subframe connectors and the traction is aided by Lakewood traction bars.    The interior is finished out in Black and in great condition.  It has been kept with mostly a stock appearance except for a few small modifications.  The bucket seats have been fitted with sYc headrests and a Hurst shifter is mounted in the factory style center console.  The only other major modifications are hidden like the switch for the cutouts in the ashtray and the Alpine AM/FM/XM/CD player in the glovebox.  Outside of that the car has all of the factory style gauges, switches, etc.  Even the original stereo was left in place to preserve the stock look.  The condition of the upholstery, dash and console is very top notch.  The trunk of the car is finished out nicely as well and has the correct style mat in place.  One very cool feature in the trunk is the very rare "Space-saver" spare with the inflator which is not a feature you see in place often.  Front to rear, top to bottom, this is a very well built car with very minimal imperfections.  It is a reliable driver and has been extremely well maintained since being completed.  The price of a real Yenko is near a quarter of a million so get the next best thing with this very reasonably priced tribute.  Add it to your collection for the low reduced price of $48,500.00 $44,500.00!
