Chevrolet Camaro 1968

General description : You've got to appreciate enthusiasts who go all-out on a custom build, ignoring costs and chasing a dream. This striking 1968 Camaro convertible is a car that not only knows that mindset, it exists on the very limits of custom ideology. Spectacular in every regard, from its metallic paint to its potent LS3 and trick, fully independent suspension, this Chevy has claimed awards and fans alike. And if you're looking for fast, swank and exclusive, it's your kind of classic!
GHOSTED 2-TONE WITH A TOUCH OF FLAKE
The Chevy's stunning Charcoal and Root Beer 2-stage has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. There's so much flake that the car literally shimmers in sunlight, and ghosted Rally Stripes add cool, retro effect to an otherwise modern aesthetic. That crisp urethane seals a solid body that's been stripped bare, married to new quarters and massaged straight. And the result is an innovative and unique drop-top that turns heads everywhere it goes.
Much to traditionalists' delight, all this Camaro's original trim was restored to show condition during the car's extensive build. No painted bumpers, no deleted stainless, and not even a cowl-induction hood. Instead, it's all the wonderful 1968 Camaro flash that makes these classics so timeless. Era-correct Z/28 badging was added to complement the trick Rally Stripes. Nothing's cooler than hidden headlights, so Rally Sport trim was a must. The hood still sports original velocity stack-style louvers. Billet taillights provide both form and function. And familiar D80 spoilers add a little attitude.
LS NATION
No pro-touring build is complete without a state-of-the-art engine, and the spry LS3 under this Camaro's stainless-trimmed hood is a 21st century testament to proven small block performance. Sorted, tuned and ready to roll, that mill spins an impressive 464 horsepower straight to the car's rear wheels! But, as awesome as that performance is, it pales in comparison to the craftsmanship that went into finishing this F-Body's clean engine bay. An extended motor cowl hides the car's intake and coils under custom paint. A polished air cleaner introduces oxygen while ceramic-coated, long-tube headers feed 2.5-inch, stainless Magnaflow exhaust. All accessories, tanks and pulleys have been polished to match a custom aluminum radiator. And billet fender braces join billet hood supports and a body-matched master cylinder to dress up otherwise mundane details.
INDEPENDENT OF TRADITION
As spectacular as its body and engine are, the chassis is where most of this Panther's greatest modifications have been made. A fifth-generation Corvette front-clip has been seamlessly grafted onto the car's subframe, resulting in much improved handling. But wait, there's more! Out back, a 2003 Mustang Cobra rear-clip does a brilliant job of pounding power to the pavement. Recently equipped with fresh coil-overs, that fully independent suspension gets pushed by an 8.8-inch Ford axle that's packed with friendly, 3.55 gears. Naturally, the transmission is a tough T56 6-speed that's both fun and relaxed. Stops are easy thanks to Z06 rotors up front and Mustang Cobra rotors out back. Power rack-and-pinion steering helps the driver utilize near perfect 50.5 front/49.5 rear weight distribution. And at the corners, 20-inch Foose blades spin 245/30ZR20 Toyo Proxes in front of 275/30ZR20 Toyo Proxes.
STYLE AND COMFORT
Between the doors, a black leather interior combines the best elements of modern Corvette and vintage Camaro. Heated bucket seats, cribbed from Team Corvette, feature 6-way power adjustment for the car's driver. An old school Camaro dash hangs digital telemetry next to pushbutton ignition, Vintage Air conditioning and modern Pioneer audio. Below that dash, a traditional console toggles a short T-handle shifter between 4-pack accessory gauges and switches for four power windows. The driver spins a custom flat-bottom steering wheel around a tilting column. And leather-wrapped door panels look great framing a leather-wrapped roll bar and leather-clad rear seats.
Beautifully finished and aggressively sorted, this Camaro is ready to parade and enjoy. If you're an early Camaro fan and the stock stuff just doesn't do it for you, here's one that anyone can see is something special! Call, click or visit https://www.RKMotors.com for more information.
