Chevrolet Camaro 1970

General description : As cool as first-generation Camaros are, it seems that EVERYONE either owns one or knows someone who owns one. And as much as we enjoy watching killer F1s parade through our doors, it's always nice to see a well-done second-generation car. Being an avid Camaro fan, you probably know finding a highly polished F2 isn't all that hard. But the chances of scoring a unique, fully-sorted resto-mod seem almost as likely as purchasing a winning lotto ticket. Luckily, since the passionate gearheads at RK Motors Charlotte specialize in the unique and fully sorted, we can offer you one-of-a-kind opportunities like this attractive, carefully modified 'hugger'. Backing a massaged LS3 with outstanding aesthetics and upgraded mechanicals, this super clean muscle car will ensure you enjoy miles of open road and plenty of high octane summers!
CAMARO WITH A DASH OF CORVETTE
The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up build that was completed in late 2013, this authentic 1970 Rally Sport was entirely disassembled and carefully stripped of its dull, original pigment. Once that prep was complete, an incredibly straight fuselage was tweaked to better-than-factory alignment and blanketed in arresting Corvette LeMans Blue. That pigment was successfully detailed with Iceberg Silver Rally Stripes that are dutifully traced in Torch Red outlines. And today, one close look at our high resolution photos reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the coolest Chevrolet muscle cars on the planet!
Built to look classic but drive modern, this cool coupe adds increased significance to the 'working man's Ferrari' mentality that GM famously threaded into the F2's development. At the front of the car, a 2-piece Rally Sport valence centers a 5-piece, 'Z28' branded grille between LED headlamps, muted parking lights, an aggressive chin spoiler and Satin Black bumperettes. Behind that valance, a classy header emblem leads the eye to a tasteful Cowl Induction Hood, which fronts pristine, stainless-trimmed glass. At the sides of that hood, the car's clean fuselage centers painted door handles and body-matched mirrors between clean marker lamps and simple 'Z28' emblems. And those mirrors reflect a 'Z28' branded ducktail, which shades a seamless valance, a Satin Black bumper and billet Fesler taillights.
LS3+
Installed in May of 2014 by the pros at MirandaBuilt, this sweet split-bumper's proven LS3 utilizes a hearty 6.2 liters of displacement to create a respectable 480 horsepower straight out of the crate! At the top of the aluminum mill, a remote K&N filter funnels wind into a trusty GM throttle body. That bowl is seated on a lightweight composite intake that's juiced by a Tanks Inc. tank, a high-flow pump and GM electronic injection. That air/fuel mixture progresses to rectangular-port L92-style heads, which have been fitted with upgraded valve springs. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons provide compression, while a custom-grind cam maximizes intake efficiency. Speaking of breathing, the smooth mill funnels spent gases through Hooker Super Competition headers. A muted Be Cool radiator fronts quick-spinning puller fans, metal coolant tubes and an aftermarket expansion tank. A Concept One LS Victory accessory drive spins a brushed alternator next to a brushed AC compressor. And items like Speartech wiring, trick dipsticks, a Wilwood master cylinder and MSD Super Conductor plug wires convey a sense of top-notch detailing.
RESTO-ED AND MODDED
Take a gander under this cool F-Body and you'll find a fully detailed chassis that mixes new age technology with old school durability. At the center of the car's solid floors, a proven 4L60E 4-speed, dressed with a polished TCI pan, spins a beefy American Axle driveshaft that's threaded to a tough 9-inch pumpkin. That pumpkin pushes a 4-bar rear-clip, which is finished with modern coil-over-shocks. Opposite that clip, tubular Global West control arms cage fluid power steering. Stopping is a cinch thanks to 4 and 6-piston Wilwood calipers, which clamp a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust gets handled by large-diameter pipes, which wrap smooth Mandrel bends around sporty cats, an X-shaped crossover and rowdy Borla ProXS mufflers. Torque melts the pavement thanks to color-keyed Budnik Vapors, which spin 245/35R19 Nitto Invos in front of 285/30ZR20 Nitto Invos. And tubular subframe connectors tie everything together.
TRADITIONAL WITH A DASH OF BLUE
Open the car's long doors and you'll find a lightly customized interior that's stylish and very livable. There's a quartet of bucket seats that feature upgraded covers and extended tracks for the car's driver. In front of those thrones, a 'factory air' dash hangs monochromatic Dakota Digital VHX telemetry over hardware for Vintage Air conditioning and a JVC CD player that jolts JVC deck speakers. At the bottom of that dash, a blue-tinged console centers a simple horseshoe shifter in front of integrated power window switches. Opposite that console, pliable door panels front power-operated locks. And the driver spins a flat-bottom Billet Specialties steering wheel around a tilting column that's been augmented with custom-integrated pushbutton ignition.
One of Detroit's best combinations of performance and style, early second-generation Camaros present an excellent opportunity for savvy enthusiasts. And, because of their cool aesthetics, split-bumper cars are some of the most desirable F2s on the market. This fully sorted coupe, with its clean restoration and impressive drivetrain, is the kind of old school muscle that can make any enthusiast happy. Call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and enjoy years of care-free cruising in this brilliant 'hugger'!
