LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RS JL8

Perhaps one of the most special and iconic Camaro’s was the Z28 performance package that reflected Chevrolet’s entry in the SCCA Trans-Am race series. The Z28 package included a solid-lifter 302 V8, 4-Speed Manual Transmission, Power Disc Brakes, and two wide bold stripes down the hood and decklid. The styling, considered by many Camaro enthusiasts as the ultimate muscle car look and arguably the most popular, would serve for the 1969 model year only. In addition to the powerplant Z/28 package there were a few additional options that were intended for the hardcore enthusiast. The JL8 brake package was based on the Corvette design and therefore employed much larger rotors and four-piston calipers. Nearly all of the associated parts changed–brackets, dust shields, etc–and the system did not include a proportioning valve. Reportedly, this system also shortened the rear axle tubes used with the 12-bolt differential. That said, the front spindles, master cylinder, power brake booster and front brake lines were identical to the front disc/rear drum option. It was also possible to obtain the race-bred Cross-Ram package via the Performance Parts Division. Commonly referred to as an “over-the-counter” system, it consisted of a special aluminum intake and a pair of 600-CFM Holley four-barrel carburetors. As this system wasn’t CARB legal, the parts of this system would have been delivered in the trunk from the factory so the new customer could install it at home.

This Camaro Z28 represents the best of the legendary first-generation Chevy pony car with all the features that made it a champion in the SCCA Trans Am at the hands of Mark Donohue. A genuine X33 Z28 built at the Norwood assembly plant during the last week of March. The car is optioned with famed JL8 4-wheel power disc brake option which, at $500.30, added more to the cost of a Camaro than the Z28 option package in its entirety. A JL8 Camaro’s braking was a revelation to those experiencing it for the first time, especially when hauling down from the velocity induced by this example’s other great gift: Cross Ram induction. This Z/28 is powered by a numbers matching DZ-code 302/290hp with an Winters aluminum Cross Ram intake manifold mounting dual Holley 600 CFM 4-barrel carburetors complete with transistorized ignition and factory-supplied tube headers feeding its free-flowing chambered exhaust system. Shifting gears is handled by the robust numbers matching M21 4-speed manual transmission. Correctly finished in code 52 Garnett Red with Black stripes and a stunning Black houndstooth interior. The car also incorporates the full load of exterior extras: front and rear spoilers; the Rally Sport hideaway headlights, Endura front bumper, cowl induction fiberglass hood, console with gauges, in dash tach and Rally wheels with Goodyear Wide Tread GT tires.

This car was rotisserie restored by to a concours standard. The panel fit and paint quality are show quality and far better than it ever left the factory. An effort was made to reproduce the original assembly finishes to replicate how the car looked when new. It is apparent in the engine bay and undercarriage that is painted in the correct semi-gloss black paint and detailed with the correct paint daubs, inspection markings and tags. All these small touches add to the high quality of the restoration.

With its racing heritage and pedigree, the Camaro Z28 will always be one of the most desirable Camaros built. This unique X33 Z/28 is complete with the Rally Sport options, takes it a step further with its JL8 disc brake package and cross ram intake manifold with fiberglass hood. If you are looking for the ultimate 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 to add to your collection then look no further.
