Chevrolet Camaro 1968

General description : When you work somewhere as cool as RK Motors, it's tough not to lose that staring, 'kid in a candy store' innocence that used to come out at every car show. Thankfully, offerings like this brilliant Camaro roll through the doors and continually revitalize your love of brash American muscle. Classics that serve as a simple reminder of the innate goodness of one of the purest and most popular niches in the collector car hobby. Churning roughly 500 horsepower out of a professionally built stroker motor, this Chevy moves swift and makes all the right sounds. Funneling torque through a tough Monster Transmission 3-speed, the car will be a well-mannered companion for years to come. And, featuring a lightly massaged chassis, this sweet coupe is the literal embodiment of 'first class resto-mod'. Looking for some sizzling Detroit metal that can turn heads from here to California? This panther is just the fashion you've been craving!
TIMELESS GOOD LOOKS
Thanks to acute restoration that's been performed as needed, this fantastic F1 wraps timeless Chevrolet style around retro comfort and precise performance! The foundation for that varied appeal is a clean body that's been massaged strikingly straight. Those lines are coated in glossy two-stage that decks familiar orange base in familiar white Rally Stripes. And today, this cool Camaro makes an easy habit of both stealing the show and owning the street!
At the front of this factory V8 coupe, a black-trimmed grille centers a bright 'SS' emblem between modern headlights, a polished bumper and 1968-exclusive parking lamps. Above that grille, a shaved header leads a steel Cowl Induction Hood, which fronts stainless-trimmed glass that's cleared by satin wipers. At the sides of that glass, a crisp profile hangs hooped door handles between factory mirrors, bright drip rails and factory marker lamps. And at the back of that profile, a second polished bumper reflects an 'SS' branded fuel cap between a familiar D80 spoiler and 1968-exclusive tail lamps.
SMALL BLOCK STROKER
Take a look at this Chevy's attractive engine bay and you'll find a little over $13K of professionally built stroker motor that, according to the car's previous owner, makes right around 500 horsepower! A perfect mixture of fuel and oxygen is supplied by a coated Quick Fuel 4-barrel, which floats stainless fluid lines, a Jegs linkage and a liquid-filled pressure gauge between a small Summit fuel filter and an aggressive Edelbrock air cleaner. That carb rides a clean Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake, which feeds lightweight Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads. Those heads work well with a hydraulic roller cam, hydraulic roller lifters and quality Sportsman Racing Products pistons. Fire is provided by a hot MSD Pro-Billet distributor, which sequences spark between an MSD Blaster 2 coil, a billet-trimmed Optima battery and loomed Taylor ThunderVolt plug wires. Spent gases roll through coated Hooker Super Competition headers. At the front of those tubes, a billet March serpentine drive spins a polished water pump between polished power steering and a polished alternator. That pump feeds an aluminum Cold Case radiator that's outfitted with corrugated hoses, a polished cap and a spry puller fan. And the car's Chevrolet-branded engine bay hosts a multitude of attractive dress-up items, from trick hoses and polished fluid reservoirs to billet brace bars and chrome Chevrolet valve covers.
EVEN BETTER
The gnarly 383 sends power to a proven Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed that was sourced directly from the pros at Monster Transmission. That gearbox, built to provide 'aggressive, race-style shifts' all the way up to 900 horsepower, spins torque to a familiar 10-bolt axle that's stuffed with big, 3.73 gears. That exceptional drivetrain is framed by a thoughtfully upgraded suspension that's finished with tubular control arms and a big sway bar. When the road starts to twist, spry power steering maximizes driver input. Power-assisted stops are greatly improved by a polished booster, a polished master cylinder, The Right Stuff Detailing proportioning and retrofitted 1969 Camaro calipers that clamp drilled and slotted rotors. Spent gases race from the aforementioned headers into either electronic cutouts or rowdy, dual-chamber mufflers. And rubber scars the pavement thanks to dramatic Boss Motorsports 338s, which turn 245/40R18 Delinte Thunder D7s in front of 275/30ZR20 Delinte Thunder D7s.
TASTEFULLY UPDATED
The Standard Black Interior hiding behind this Camaro's short doors is a mostly factory affair that's been tastefully updated where it counts. Short bucket seats frame a wood-trimmed console, which slides a factory shifter behind AutoMeter American Muscle accessory gauges. In front of that island, a glossy dash hangs billet foot pedals below more AutoMeter American Muscle telemetry and a Custom Autosound head unit. That seat, dash and console trifecta is completely framed by a tight headliner, fade-free side panels and clean carpet that's protected by Camaro-themed mats. The driver wheels a handsome Rally Wheel, and the passengers stash baubles in a carpeted trunk.
With its awesome small block, cool aesthetics and road-ready chassis, this Camaro is the very definition of American muscle. In the market for a top-notch classic that can win trophies and own the road? This Chevy is your kind of car!
