Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this sharp 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible. This car is ready to hit the streets and wants a new owner. Nothing like the sound of a Chevy V8 engine and in a convertible to really make you enjoy a summer night cruise.
The 1971 Chevelle was treated to new front-end and rear-end styling that included large Power-Beam single-unit headlights, a reworked grille and bumper, and integral park/signal/marker lights. New dual round taillights were integral with the back bumper. Because SS models suffered heavy insurance surcharges, Chevrolet introduced the "Heavy Chevy" at midyear, which was based on the base Chevelle, and was available with any V8 engine except the 454, which was exclusive to SS models. Chevrolet specifications for 1971 included both "gross" and "net" horsepower figures for all engines. The standard Chevelle SS engine was a two-barrel 350-cubic-inch V8 rated at 245 gross (165 net) horsepower.
This stunning Chevelle does have a newer crate 350 small block that was installed about 20 miles ago and it runs great. It is paired to a smooth shifting 3 speed automatic transmission. The red paint on this car shines bright in the sun and has been redone to be in great condition. The black vinyl interior does not show its age due to it not having any rips or tears. This car even has upgraded sound system to a more modern stereo and speakers. The classic style is kept with the Cragar wheels and white letter BF Goodrich tires, it does have another set of rims that come with it as well. This car is set up with the R12 original A/C that still blows cool to this day. The power top makes an aggressive look go to a sporty convertible and even more fun drive in a matter of minutes.
This car should fit into any collection and could even be used as a daily driver. Everyone should enjoy dropping the top on a classic Chevelle and pushing the throttle down to feel the rush of American muscle. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
