Chevrolet Chevelle 1972

General description : 1972 Chevelle SS 454 When it comes to Chevelles the SS is king.  For certain years the super sports can be difficult to identify but this 1972 Chevelle SS is a documented restored to original car.  The level of restoration is extremely high quality and the originality was preserved throughout.  This is the type of car that you look at as just as much an investment as it is a fun classic car.  If you need a true SS for the collection then you definitely need to give this one a close look.  It is all numbers matching and all parts are date coded correctly.  It was sold new at Gates Chevrolet in South Bend Indiana and comes with a build sheet and list of all the parts purchased.  It has belonged to the same owner and professional car builder for the past 26 years so you know it was well cared for.  It wasn't just a project to flip and sell to the highest bidder.  It was built for long term ownership and drivability.  Car came from the factory with the Z15 SS package and is coated in Mohave Gold with Black stripes.  Added original options include a sport steering wheel and cowl induction.  The glass is new all around and in excellent condition.  The stainless and chrome work all has a beautiful shine and is cleanly mounted in place.  Factory wheels sit under all four corners and have polished Chevrolet center caps. They are equipped with new BF Goodrich white letter tires. A total of 5,333 of these cars were built with LS5 454 and this car is one of them.  The motor is topped with a 4 barrel carb and the rare production change air cleaner. It is also equipped with the fully functional air injection smog system.  The entire engine compartment has an immaculate clean original appearance that was very well done.  The block, heads and manifold are all Chevrolet Orange with most other components painted Black.  Reproduction factory dual exhaust is in place with resonators and the correct tips.  Paired with the motor is the 3 speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission that shifts smoothly with no problems.  A few performance modifications were done to the engine/transmission but they are not noticeable from the exterior.  The car is a great driver equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes.  It is very comfortable to cruise around in.  Performance suspension is in place with a 3:31 ratio positrac rear end.    The interior of the car is complete in Black and has a rare factory bench seat in place.  Dash pad, carpet and headliner are new and original style. The factory stereo and factory electric clock are original to the car and in great condition.  All of the factory gauges are functioning properly and look like new. The trunk of the car is finished out just as nicely and houses a spare as well as the working original jack and tools.
