Five years after the Sting Ray's arrival, a total re-style ushered in the Corvette's 'Stingray' era. Based on GM's 1965 Mako Shark II show car, the new '68 Corvette Coupe became a 'notchback' with removable rear window and detachable, two-piece 'T-top' roof, while the roadster, or convertible, version could be ordered with optional hardtop.
The previous generation's recessed pop-up headlights were retained while the windshield wipers were now concealed beneath a vacuum-operated panel, the latter feature being inherited from the Mako Shark II. Beneath the skin the chassis remained fundamentally unchanged, and as is often the case after a major revamp, changes in the immediately succeeding years were confined mainly to styling revisions, although a limited-slip rear axle was newly standardised for 1972.
The exterior represents that of a true muscle car, finished in black with a heavily airbrushed bonnet scoop, around the car there are various Corvette badges. One of the most noticeable exterior items being the banana branch Summit exhaust system to either side, and as soon as you turn the key this becomes even clearer with the incredible sound the 5.7 Litre V8 produces.
This Stingray is currently sitting on 15” Deep Dish American Racing alloy wheels, which are fitted with 295/50 tyres. The original wheels and tyres are also included in the sale.
The interior is finished in black with chrome fixings throughout and there is also the edition of a wooden vaneer to each door card. A modern stereo system has been fitted. The roof is a complete ‘disappearing’ system, which takes a matter of moments to put up or down and is good condition.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
