Chevrolet Corvette 5.7L V8 MPI DOHC 32V 1990

General description : Gateway Classic Cars is proud to present this low mileage 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1. It all started in 1984 as General Motors vice president Lloyd Reuss, set out to develop the most agile and strong domestic car that Detroit had ever seen. Enter the ZR-1. The ZR-1 Corvettes were marketed as the "King of the Hill", which they deservingly were, with a Lotus designed, Mercury Marine manufactured, 5.7-liter all aluminum 32 valve-DOHC LT5 V-8 hiding under the hood. At that time, to develop an American multi-stage valve engine was quite the task, but as the numbers report, GM hit the jackpot. Producing a lofty 375 horsepower, 370 ft-lbs torque, compression ratio of 11.0: 1, this C4 was playing with the likes of Italian made exotics. This car did exactly what GM executives wanted, to be able to run with the best Italian sports cars of the time, and prove to the world that America can compete with the best. Taking the HP to the rear wheels is a unique and beefy, ZF-designed (code-named ML9) six-speed manual transmission, which uses CAGS (Computer Aided Gear Se¬lection) that automatically short-shifts from first to fourth under light throttle. Made famous by the Porsche 959, the ZR-1 is equipped with FX3 selective ride and handling controls, allowing its user to switch between three varying options that range from Touring to Performance. All of which are delivered via the heavy-duty Z51 independent short/long arm five-link suspension system. At the rear, you’ll find asphalt shredding 11 inch treads attached to 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, thus making this ZR-1's rear exclusively 3 inches wider and an authority in the high-speed hair-pin turns. Options on this 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 for sale include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with CD Player, Glass and Hard Targa Tops, Seat Belts, Cruise Control, Lumbar Support, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Windows, Power Seats, Anti-Lock Brakes, Tilt/Telescopic Steering Wheel, Traction Control, Ride Control, Driver and Passenger Air Bags, Anti-Theft System, Leather Interior, Rear Window Defogger, Performance Radial Tires, and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels. This Zr-1 also comes with a clean Autocheck report, window sticker, build sheet, and a car cover. With only 4,186 actual miles on the odometer of this 1990 ZR-1, you will be hard pressed to find a cleaner one out there. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
