Chevrolet Corvette LS3 6.2L V8 1966

General description : You just can't go wrong with side-pipes.
Think about it. Of the hobby's many truisms, this statement is probably one of the most accurate. Corvettes, Cobras, Vipers, T-Buckets… Crazy candied builds from the 1970s. ALL those classics are highly desirable and undeniably cool. That said, side-pipes aren't the only reason this sweet Sting Ray should grace your garage. For starters, it's one of the most desirable Corvettes ever made. It's an exceptionally fun car thanks to acute, quality restoration. And best of all, it backs 525 horsepower worth of Chevrolet Performance LS376 crate engine with a tough Legend 5-speed!
LITTLE RED CORVETTE
No disrespect to Prince, but is there such a thing as a Corvette that's too fast? We don't think so, and, apparently, neither did the builder of this awesome C2! Professionally installed by the folks at Detroit Speed, the car's tough Chevrolet Performance LS376 crate engine twists respectable 10.7 to 1 compression into 525 horsepower and 486 lb./ft. of curve-carving torque. At the front of the mill, a remote filter element feeds a polished air tube, which funnels wind in to a proven GM throttle body that fronts a composite GM intake. That air meets spark in rectangular-port L92-style heads, which ride under familiar Corvette fuel rail covers. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that volatile union. A racing-inspired ASA cam maximizes intake efficiency through better breathing. Speaking of breathing, that smooth valvetrain funnels spent gases through coated Hooker block huggers. There's a lightweight DeWitts radiator that's paired with dual electric puller fans. And a proven Optima gel cell battery provides the spark.
UPGRADED WHERE IT COUNTS
When you have an undercarriage that's as clean as the bottom of this Corvette, it makes sense to skip a full restoration and spend your money where it counts. That counting begins with five, as in the five forward gears in the hydraulically-kicked Legend 5-speed that was installed by Detroit Speed. Next up is four, as in 4-wheel disc brakes. Then there's two, as in true-dual exhaust that rumbles through chambered side-pipes. Turns come courtesy of lucid power steering, and everything rolls on tasteful turbines and 15-inch red-stripe Cokers.
DISTINCTLY 1966
There's a lot to like about a 1966 Corvette, and definitely a lot to like about this 1966 Corvette resto-mod! A quality body-on restoration dressed the car's fiberglass well, with blemish-free surfaces reflecting a glassy coat of vivid pigment. That unique hood is exclusive to 1966 big block cars and, in our opinion, is just as cool as Chevrolet's much-lauded Stinger. Dual mirrors reflect dark-tint glass. Dual tail lamps add detail and practicality. And all this Chevy's ornamentation is fresh, accurate and free of significant weathering.
TASTEFUL AND TIMELESS
Most enthusiasts buy sports cars for the thrill of driving, not the thrill of napping in an overly plush interior that's made of memory foam and 'Old World craftsmanship'. That's where the Corvette has ALWAYS excelled! Between this Sting Ray's doors, you'll find standard Black vinyl that's simple, purposeful and ready for long rides. In front of the driver, a factory dash hangs optimized Classic Instruments telemetry next to controls for modern air conditioning. Fade-free carpet joins monochromatic door panels to maintain the car's serious ambiance. And the driver feels the road through a tall Hurst shifter and a stylish, cross-flag-branded steering wheel.
If you're a fun-loving enthusiast who's looking for a great classic that can be your anything and everything, welcome to Team Corvette! As a coveted first-generation Sting Ray, this Chevy will never go out of style. Featuring a sorted, professional restoration, the car will be a pleasure to own. And, considering its impressive LS3/5-speed drivetrain, this Chevy is just modern enough to be a blast to drive. Call, click or visit http://www.RKMotors.com for more information!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
