Chevrolet Corvette LT1 1970

General description : In an age where so many car enthusiasts alter and 'improve' their classics, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find documented, factory-correct award winners that are so authentic they could almost pass as survivor cars. But this exclusive Chevy, sporting calculated restoration as its sole alteration, is just that. As a world class example of one of the best cars ever created, the legendary Corvette, this Stingray has earned NCRS Top Flight status, the NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence, Bloomington Gold honors and Best in Class at the Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance. In addition to being one of only 1,287 Corvettes fitted with LT-1 power in 1970, it sports correct, 1970-exclusive Donnybrooke Green paint. And if you're looking for an exceptional collector car, it's your chance to own an exclusive piece of American history!
THE AMERICAN DREAM
Perhaps Harley Earl's greatest creation, the Corvette proved GM's Chevrolet juggernaut had the strength to truly be all things to all people. And by the 1960s, Bill Mitchell and Zora Arkus Duntov had honed America's sports car into a world-class performer that wholly embodied the ethos of the American Dream. Rolling out of Los Angeles' Harry Mann Chevrolet in early 1970, this awesome Stingray is a high performance icon that's been lovingly restored over the course of 52 years. Detailing for the coupe's correct, 1970-exclusive Donnybrooke Green two-stage begins with bright, stainless-trimmed grilles that center small parking lamps between a thin bumper and subtle chin spoiler. Above that mirrored brow, a cross-flag-branded header draws the eye to a stainless-trimmed hood that bends bold LT-1 war paint at the foot of a vacuum operated cowl. That cowl reflects chip-free glass that's framed by straight stainless and capped with body-matched T-tops. At the sides of that glass, flush door poppers and classy 'Stingray' scripts perfectly complement a polished driver's mirror, intricate fender gills and requisite rocker guards. And at the back of the car, a stainless-trimmed, 'CORVETTE' branded valance hangs a polished tag pocket and dual-mode tail lamps between thin bumpers, an ornate fuel filler and polished exhaust tips.
YEP, IT'S AN LT-1 CAR
Beneath the sculpted hood you'll find an original, 350 cubic inch LT-1 that hangs a correct 3970010 casting number behind a correct 'CTU' suffix stamp and a matching 407154 partial VIN. Fitted to just 1,287 Corvettes in 1970, that epic small block utilizes solid lifters, a high-lift cam and a high performance rotating assembly to twist stout 11 to 1 compression into an even 370 horsepower! At the peak of that pavement-scorching mill, a polished and decaled air cleaner swirls wind in to a familiar Winters intake by way of a correct LIST 4489 Holley. At the sides of that plane, cast iron heads hang finned valve covers over correct 'ram's horn' exhaust manifolds. At the back of those heads, chrome-capped transistorized ignition sequences spark through sleeved plug wires. And in front of those wires, era-correct smog equipment frames a beefy radiator. Naturally, ancillary components are exact in every way, with pliable GM hoses and an old school brake booster accompanying stainless fuel lines, tight tower clamps and a correct 1100884 Delco alternator. And bright Chevy Orange engine skin is seated in a clean, Satin Black frame.
AS IT SHOULD BE
Peer under this low-slung Chevy and you'll find a familiar factory chassis that's straight, solid and ready to roll. The car's stout small block twists torque through an original Muncie 4-speed, which hangs a correct 3925661 casting number in front of a 1970 (0) Muncie (P) M21 (B) assembled on January (A) 13th (13) assembly stamp and a matching 407154 partial VIN. That tough transmission twists power to a 'CFA' branded differential, which spins a correct posi-traction differential around correct 3.70 gears. Beneath that drivetrain, a factory suspension combines sporty manual steering with factory-optioned power-assisted discs. True-dual pipes shuttle spent gases through throaty turbo mufflers. And all that high quality hardware rides on handsome Chevrolet Rally Wheels, which lap F70-15 Goodyear Wide Tread tires.
GREEN-ON-GREEN
Slip behind this Stingray's doors and you'll find a correct Green interior that's founded on firm vinyl buckets. A familiar dash hangs an array of black-trimmed telemetry above a familiar Delco AM/FM radio. At the base of that dash, a tapered console frames a factory shifter. Corvette-themed floor mats split the difference between clean carpet and stainless-trimmed foot pedals. Weather-free door panels front factory-optioned power windows. And the driver spins a satin-spoke steering wheel around an optional tilt and telescoping column.
Coveted and cherished, this national award-winning Chevy is a documented, highly exclusive collectable that's ready to be celebrated and enjoyed. With top-notch preservation, major provenance and more style than pretty much anything on the road, the car literally defines the term 'investment grade'. Looking for a world class classic? About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
