Chevrolet El Camino 4.3 liter V6 1986

General description : Ultra-clean all-original El Camino with 43,572 original miles. Original paint, interior, and spotless bed. This truck has never worked a day in its life! 4.3 liter EFI V6, drives like new, factory A/C and cruise. Beautiful survivor!

This attractive El Camino spent the entirety of its life with an elderly gentleman who bought it to be his forever car—a car that he wanted to own for decades—so it has been a fair-weather toy for many years. As a result, it’s ultra-clean and very well-preserved, with laser-straight bodywork and even gaps on the doors and hood. It’s standard 1980s GM paint, so there’s a reasonable shine, but there’s also no question that it’s original—it has the right look. The chrome bumpers show a shine that comes from living out of the elements and the stand-up hood ornament adds a touch of luxury. In back, you can still put it to work thanks to a full-sized bed, which actually doesn’t look like it ever had to do any hard labor in the past. In fact, it’s so nice, you might think twice about putting anything in it—even the factory spot welds are still clearly visible.

The interior is borrowed from the Monte Carlo, so it should look familiar and it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s comfortable and surprisingly luxurious. The tan vinyl upholstery is in great shape, the seats are comfortable, and those are the original carpets still on the floor. Options include A/C, cruise control, and an AM/FM stereo radio. The mileage, 43,572, is an authentic reading and the interior definitely shows like a low-mileage car. Someone has added a few little details like a clock on the center stack, a cell phone holder, and a set of aftermarket floor mats, but nothing that detracts from the car’s originality. Even the original spare tire is tucked behind the seat as it should be, never having been used.

Power comes from the tried-and-true 4.3 liter V6 that was also used in the S10 pickups and Blazers. With fuel injection, it offers a bunch of low-end torque that’s entirely appropriate for something designed to work for a living, and that shouldn’t be surprising since it’s essentially ¾ of a 350 cubic inch V8. It’s also completely stock, which is unusual for a car like this, and still feels fresh. Turn the key and it fires easily, idles smoothly, and doesn’t ask you for anything but regular gas and an oil change now and then. Talk about low maintenance! The engine bay is clean and aside from basic maintenance items, it’s pretty much the way the factory made it. No issues, no problems to solve, just get in and go. The transmission is a familiar TH350 3-speed automatic, which combine with what we believe to be 2.73 gears to make this an effortless cruiser on the highway and it actually pulls down decent fuel economy. Obviously power steering and brakes are standard, with discs up front. There are also new shocks, a recent exhaust system with high-flow catalytic converter, and a few other basic maintenance items that make it ready to run. Factory rally wheels wear trim rings and right-sized 205/75/14 whitewall radials.

Affordable, fun, and remarkably practical, the El Camino still makes a lot of sense. This is one of the better examples we’ve seen and it’s the kind of car that you can enjoy every day of the week. That makes for a real easy choice and a great hobby car for you. Call today!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
