Citroen Traction Avant Avant 7C Pre-War 1938

General description : We have a very special Citroen Traction 7C. This Pre-War model left the factory on the 15th September 1938 and was supplied to its first owner in France. The whole car’s history is more or less known, throughout its life this Traction has had six French registration/ number plates. The 1st number plate was 1XP 5 and the last one from the 29th April 1969 being 865 CD 80. A Dutchman bought the car on the 20th May 1972 from the second owner, who drove the car back to Holland. At this stage the engine, drive shafts and gearbox were overhauled. 20 years later the car was sold to a Belgium enthusiast on the 20th April 1991. 13 years later, on the 31st October 2004, the initial Dutchman bought the car back. Overall the last owner kept the car for over 35 years. Everything has been neatly documented, including import documents, sales and overhauls. There are many photographs and invoices detailing the restoration as well as a lot of old French paperwork. Mechanically the car is in excellent condition and up-to date where needed. The cylinder head has been overhauled and modified for use of lead-free petrol. The fine bodywork is in good order. The paintwork is nice but not perfect. Overall this Citroen has a lovely patina that is well suited to this Pre-War Traction. In short this is a very special Pre-War Traction with a complete and extensive history! About Citroen
French industrialist André Citroën had been building arms for the French army during WWI by the end of the war he was left with great industrial facilities but no product for the post war market.

In 1919 he founded Citroen that became the first mass-production car company outside the USA[3] and a pioneer of the modern marketing as well as factory backed services network. Mind you, even Eiffel Tower served as a billboard for Citroën from 1925 to 1934 -Mon Dieu, monsier!

Soon Citroën earned a reputation for innovation and revolutionary engineering. Staying true to their slogan "Créative Technologie" Citroën has many "firsts" under their belt:

Europe’s first all-steel-bodied car, the B10 In 1934.

The world's first mass-produced front-wheel drive car,Traction Avant, (also one of the first cars to feature a monocoque-type body)

The world's first hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension system, introduced with the revolutionary Citroën DS / ID models in 1955, as well as the first production car with disc brakes.

Swiveling headlights in 1967, and finally variable assist power steering in 1970

With Citroën purchasing Maserati in 1968 a door opened for a high speed GT-model that would compete with Ferrari, Aston Martin et. al, when introduced Citroen SM was the world's fastest fwd-car.
