Dodge Sedan 350 V8 1947

General description : Over the past few years, many of the world's coolest street rods have graced the RK Motors Charlotte showroom. According to sales, the more unique rods are often considered our best offerings. And it's certainly easy to see why when cars like this super cool Dodge Deluxe, which combines 350 cubic inches of smooth Chevrolet small block with a carefully planned restoration, are casting glares in our photo booth. It's pretty evident that the goal of this sedan's build was to create one of the coolest cruisers on the planet. And, judging by initial reactions, that objective has been fully realized. Looking for a sizzling custom that mixes proven mechanicals with great aesthetics? You're looking at your next classic!
THERE'S NO METAL LIKE 1940's METAL
The essential part of building a jaw dropping classic is knowing exactly when to hold back, and when it comes to the world of street rods, subtle touches go a long way. A solid original that's been subjected to choice customization, this sedan is the beneficiary of a professional, ground-up restoration that was completed by Jeff's Paint and Body of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. That clean reboot was bathed in silky Deep Blue 2-stage. And naturally, that sublime pigment reflects a spectacular shine that'll equal any first-rate classic at any local show. At the front of this '47, a contoured bumper seats a chromed grille between clear parking lamps and frenched Wagner headlights. At the top of that grille, a nosed hood points polished spears at a smoked greenhouse, which reflects trim-free glass in polished mirrors and polished wipers. At the base of that glass, polished spears found sleek door handles above shaved fenders and shaved rockers. And at the back of the car, a second contoured bumper frames custom taillights and a shaved trunk that features a frenched tag bracket.
PROVEN SMALL BLOCK POWER
Fold the hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of Chevrolet small block that mixes great power with great reliability. Revs are created when a polished air cleaner floats wind in to a coated Weber carburetor. That Lokar-controlled carb rides a polished Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, which is backed by a Delco-Remy HEI distributor. That distributor fires loomed Taylor plug wires, which frame polished valve covers and polished breathers. At the front of the block, polished pulleys spin a color-keyed water pump beneath a polished alternator and a polished AC compressor. Exhaust is handled by coated block hugger headers. Cooling comes courtesy of a tailored aluminum radiator, which hangs a polished cap and polished expansion tank in front of a big Cooling Components puller fan. And, aesthetically, the car's massaged engine compartment looks great reflecting body-matched block paint.
CRUISE WITH CONFIDENCE
Under the floors, a boxed and reinforced frame provides a comfortable, durable ride that's spiced by improved handling. That improved handling is no doubt a product of a Mustang II-style front-clip, which uses modern power rack-and-pinion steering to make quick work of tight spots and sharp turns. Behind the smooth small block, a cooled Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed sports a polished flywheel cover and a polished fluid pan. Behind that gearbox, a stalwart 10-bolt axle spins easy, 2.73 gears. A floor-mounted booster charges power front disc and rear drum brakes. Spent gases float from the aforementioned headers to aluminized pipes, which bark through traditional turbo mufflers. And all that mechanical goodness rolls on polished Billet Specialties wheels, which spin 225/45ZR17 Falken GRB FK451s in front of 255/45ZR18 Falken GRB FK451s.
CRUISE IN COMFORT
Installed by Lexington, North Carolina's Hester Upholstery, this Dodge's custom interior is both stylish and comfortable. At the center of the cockpit, firm bench and bucket seats wear plush leather hides. In front of those seats, a custom dash hangs cool digital telemetry over classy metal foot pedals. On the floor, premium carpet floats piped and color-keyed floor mats around a short console that stacks modern air conditioning on modern Pioneer audio. At the doors, custom panels hang billet handles in front of modern power windows. And the driver spins a polished and leather-wrapped steering wheel around a polished and tilting column.

About Dodge
Dodge Brothers Company, founded by Horace and John Dodge in 1900, initially produced components for car manufacturers. In 1914 they stepped into car manufacturing when introducing four-cylinder Dodge Model 30 with all-steel body and 12v electric system.

By 1920 Dodge had become the second biggest car manufacturer in the USA, unfortunately the same year both of the brothers died, the company in turn to was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928. Dodge found a niche Chrysler Corporation lineup above low-priced Plymouth and medium-priced DeSoto, but somewhat below the top-of-the-line Chrysler
