General description :
The small cars by FIAT were Italy’s “Volkswagen” in the 1950s and 1960s. The FIAT 500 originated in 1936 and more than 500,000 cars of this model were built until 1955. Inspired by “Mickey Mouse”, the charming little car with its round headlights and bulky fenders was lovingly called “Topolino” (small mouse). In those days, 570 ccm cubic capacity and 16 PS were enough to transport 2 people with the “Berlina” model or a family and goods with the 4-seater versions “Belvedere” and “Giardiniera”.Our FIAT 500 C Belvedere was purchased from a collection in 2012 by its current owner. It required substantial investment in a technical upgrade in order to make the classic driveable. All services of that time are documented with invoices. In order to preserve its authenticity, the “Cinquecento’s” exterior look was left untouched. So this is a Topolino that shows its long and rich life but is ready to hit the road again! What does one say in Italy? “Molto simpatico!”

Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (FIAT to you and I) was founded by Giovanni Agnelli in 1899. Their first car 3 ½ CV had a strong resembledence to contemporary Benz, only 25 examples were built. By 1910 Fiat had established itself as Italia's biggest car manufacturer and expanded to the US, where a new plant was built in Poughkeepsie, NY.
At that time Fiat cars were big and luxurious barges for the wealthy or barking mad racing cars like S76 , The beast of Turin, with its 290HP 28.5-liter, four-cylinder engine.
However, today Fiat is better reknown for its small symphatic peoples carriers, Topolino, 500 "Cinquecento" and 600.
