The Ford Galaxie cars are really starting to come into their own on the classic car market. So the full color package will remind you of a sunny sky with puffy cloud appearance no matter if the top is up or down. The Galaxie 500 is a big comfortable cruiser where everyone has plenty of room to spread out. The classic feel extends to everything on the two-tier dashboard, where the speedometer and AM radio up high where they're easy to see, and secondary items are part of a pod down below. But because you want to cruise this full-size Ford with family and friends, there is an AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input and Bluetooth mounted below the dash. It gives you more modern driving music without spoiling the vintage atmosphere.
Pop the hood and you'll see that callouts on the fenders were not lying. This car has its correct Z-code 390 cubic-inch V8. And if this was good enough to get those big/heavy Thunderbirds up and moving, it can be a real performer here. There's even a Holley four-barrel carburetor on top. Not only is it a powerful motor, but it fires up with the gusto of a strong heart. Good fundamentals like the belts, wires, and hoses reaffirm this feeling of good care. Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
