1974 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 Roadster Manual For Sale in London (LHD)

The V12 E-Type was at its best as a long-distance, high-speed tourer. There were few cars which could match its top speed and 150mph cruising ability, even amongst the exotica from Italy, and none at all the silence and smoothness of its engine’ – Paul Skilleter, “The Jaguar E-Type.”

One consequence of the E-Type’s long process of development had been a gradual increase in weight, but a good measure of the concomitant loss of performance was restored in 1971 with the arrival of what would be the final version – the Series III V12. Weighing only 80lb more than the cast-iron-block 4.2-litre XK six, the new all-alloy, 5.3-litre, overhead-camshaft V12 produced 272bhp, an output good enough for a top speed comfortably in excess of 140mph. The further good news was that the 0-100mph time of around 16 seconds made the V12 the fastest-accelerating E-Type ever.

As per its works heritage certificate, this glorious roadster is finished in its original colour combination of Old English White coachwork with Russet Red hide, a black soft top and matching tonneau cover. Built-in left-hand drive form and completed 26th February 1974 making this particular example, a late car, benefits from air conditioning and inertia seats belts.

Upon being acquired by DD Classics #UE1S 25020 has undergone significant mechanical refurbishment with a huge amount of attention to detail paid to the following areas: removing the rear axle and overhauling like new, a completely new brake system with a new master cylinder, discs, callipers, hoses to the front and rear of the car, a complete new exhausts system from the manifolds running through to the rear fantail exhaust pipe, a complete set of cooling hoses and header tank, refurbishment and correct setting up of all 4 carburettors, wishbones, bushes, steering rack gaiters, front and rear dampers plus new chrome throughout are just some of the works carried out to bring the car up to a high spec.

Standing proudly on its Chrome wire wheels this particular example is fully prepared on the button, road ready for its new owner.

About Jaguar E-type
The Jaguar E-Type FHC (Fixed Head Coupe) is a classic sports car that was produced by the British automaker Jaguar Cars from 1961 to 1974. It is often regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever produced, with its long, sleek hood, flowing curves, and aggressive stance.

The E-Type FHC was derived from the D-Type race car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1955, 1956, and 1957. It was powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six engine that produced up to 265 horsepower and featured advanced suspension and braking systems, with independent suspension and disc brakes on all four wheels.

The E-Type FHC was known for its exceptional handling and performance, with a top speed of up to 150 mph and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 6.7 seconds. Its design was also innovative for its time, featuring an independent rear suspension and a monocoque construction.
