Post WWII Jaguar needed to stir up some excitement. In preparation for the 1948 Earl’s Court Motor Show, Jaguar prepared the XK Open Two-Seater Super Sports concept car. The car was an immediate sensation and ultimately put Jaguar on the map as an international player in the industry. The concept was not intended for volume production but, demand was such that a limited production coach-built approach would not work. The car was quickly renamed to the XK120: X for experimental, as were all the engine types during the war; K as the sequence of engine design designation; and 120 representing the vehicles’ top speed of 120 miles-per-hour. The XK120 was powered by a 3.4L DOHC inline six-cylinder engine that produced 160hp backed by a four-speed manual transmission. The XK120 went on to break numerous speed endurance records. At inception it was the fastest production car in the world. Records were set for one hour, 24 hour and one-week duration speeds.
This XK120 Roadster was manufactured on June 17, 1953 and delivered to North America through the Hoffman Jaguar distributors in New York. The car remains today in highly original condition having never been fully restored. It is still powered by the numbers matching engine DOHC Inline 6-cylinder engine backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. A black convertible top is included with the car. The car comes fully documented with a Jaguar Heritage trust Certificate.
This is an exceptional opportunity to own a real piece of automotive history – and a real pivotal piece of Jaguar history.

About Jaguar XK120
The Jaguar XK120 is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful sports cars of the 1940s, and indeed one of the most beautiful cars ever made. It was introduced in 1948 and remained in production until 1954.

The XK120 was powered by a 3.4-liter straight-six engine that produced up to 160 horsepower, which was a significant amount of power for a sports car of its time. It was also one of the first cars to feature disc brakes, which gave it impressive stopping power.

But it was the XK120's stunning design that truly set it apart. Its long hood, flowing lines, and sleek curves made it an instant classic, and it was favored by celebrities and racing drivers alike. The XK120 was also available as a roadster or a coupe, further adding to its appeal.

The XK120 was also a successful racing car, winning numerous races and setting several speed records. It was a favorite of racing drivers such as Stirling Moss and Juan Manuel Fangio, and helped to establish Jaguar as a major force in international motorsport.

Overall, the Jaguar XK120 was a true automotive masterpiece, combining beauty, performance, and innovation in a way that few cars have been able to match.
