Lincoln Continental Mark V 1979

General description : For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1979 Lincoln MK V. Lincolns from this era were known for their smooth ride. Most people that have owned one or even ridden in one will say that they glide down the highway with ease. This fine example is painted White over a blue cloth interior and rides on a new set of 17 inch wheels and tires. The miles are showing 95,161 but the interior shows as if the car has only 30,000 miles. Obviously this one has been very well cared for over the years. Recent work consists of a new exhaust system, new brakes, new shocks, new fuel tank, wheels and tires. Equipment was plentiful and included Power windows, Power door locks, Power seats, Power mirrors, Power smokers window, Cruise control, AM/FM radio with 8-track player and a Power moonroof. Power comes from the smooth running 400 cubic inch V8. The 460 was optional and did offer a few more ponies but would also have trouble passing up a filling station. The 400 is the way to go! Power is sent through the stout C6 3 speed automatic transmission and back to the rear end that is housing a set of highway gears making highway travel a bit easier. This Collector Series is an eye catcher of a car and newly added to the car is a set of 17 inch wheels shod with new radial rubber. The 17 inch tires have a shorter sidewall and offer a more modern feel to the road thanks to less flex from the sidewalls. About Lincoln
Lincoln, often regarded as more than just an upmarket Ford, has carved its own niche in the automotive world with a rich history and a lineup of distinctive models. Let's take a stroll down the memory lane of Lincoln's story.

Early Beginnings:

Founded in 1917 by Henry Leland, the man behind the Cadillac brand, Lincoln initially started as a luxury automobile company. The brand quickly gained a reputation for its quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The Ford Era:

In 1922, Lincoln was acquired by the Ford Motor Company, and this marked the beginning of a long association. Ford aimed to position Lincoln as its luxury division, competing with other prestigious brands in the market.

Classic Models:

Over the years, Lincoln introduced several iconic models that left a lasting impact on the automotive landscape:

Lincoln Continental: Launched in the 1940s, the Continental became an instant classic. Its elegant design and iconic suicide doors made it a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
Lincoln Town Car: Introduced in the 1980s, the Town Car became synonymous with chauffeur-driven luxury. Its spacious interior and smooth ride made it a favorite among executives and dignitaries.
Lincoln Navigator: The late '90s saw the rise of the SUV craze, and Lincoln was quick to respond with the Navigator. A full-size luxury SUV, the Navigator combined opulence with utility and became a popular choice among affluent families.
