Maserati Ghibli SS UK Car 1972

General description : The Ghibli was first unveiled in prototype form on the Maserati stand at the November 1966 Turin Motor Show. Its steel body, characterized by a low, shark-shaped nose, was designed by a young Giorgetto Giugiaro, then working at Ghia. Deliveries started in March of the following year. If the 1966 Ghia prototype was a two seater, on the production car two emergency rear seats were added consisting nothing more than a cushion without backrest and the Ghibli was marketed as a 2+2.
We are pleased to be able to offer this extremely rare Maserati Ghibli SS.
It is one of only 12 Right Hand Drive cars made by Maserati.
This car was delivered to the UK in 1972 and is fitted with power steering and air conditioning.
Finished in Rosso Fuoco with pelle nera hide.
This is a matching numbers car and also comes with a Maserati Classiche carried out by Maserati Spa in August 2014.
Supplied new in London on 18/04/1972 to a client who owned it until 1986 when it then found a couple more owners in London before being acquired in 1992 by Adam Clayton the base guitarist of the world famous rock band U2 who kept it in his collection for 8 years up to 2000.
It was then sold to its next owner who kept it until 2006 then back to an owner in London before moving up to Yorkshire in 2010.
The car was subject to a detailed restoration by Maserati Specialist Bill McGrath in 1990 at 21,500 miles.
The engine was rebuilt at 25,000 miles by Marque Moda Cars Essex in 2000 and has been serviced and maintained by several very well known specialist since.
The car comes with a lovely comprehensive history file along with it's Classiche certificates and original build sheets from Maserati Spa.
