The Morgan 4/4 is an institute. It is automotive heritage of the purest kind. Forget your Porsche 911 introduced in 1964, it is a mere juvenile compared to the Morgan. The Morgan 4/4 has been on the price list of your local Morgan dealership since 1936, with exception of only two periods (the second world war and between ‘51 & ‘55). There have, of course, been a few developments to the Morgan over the years. Throughout the decades many differing engines have been used. Thanks to this the car has always managed to stay with the times. Our 4/4 is propelled by a supple modern Ford 1.8 Duratec engine coupled to a manual 5-speed. Our car is a pristine 2006 Morgan 4/4, a jubilee edition. That year the 4/4 blew out no less than 70 candles! Morgan celebrated in style with this marvellous edition. Both inside and out various badges have been placed to commemorate the fact that this is a special edition. Over the last 14 years this Morgan has only clocked up some 12,000 kilometre and has been treated with the upmost care and attention. That the car was only used in fine weather is immediately obvious. Start by looking at the lovely navy blue metallic finish, which is in top quality condition and the pristine beige leather interior trim. The icing on the cake must be that gorgeous three-spoke wooden steering wheel. The fine bodywork is perfect with correctly aligned shut lines. Again the bodywork is in pristine condition as is the blue hood. Underneath the car all is well, an important point considering its wooden frame. Both the wooden frame and the steel chassis are perfectly sound. Mechanically the Morgan is in good order. The 1.8 Ford Duratec delivers 123 Hp and thanks to the low weight to power ratio it is able to sprint to 100 km/hr in just 7.7 seconds. The manual gearbox is in good order and shifts sure-footedly and smoothly through the gears. The Morgan has always been maintained in exemplary fashion; a complete maintenance history as well as the original owner’s manual are present. To complete our enjoyment an electronic demister, a stainless steel badge bar, chromed stainless steel wire wheels, a galvanised chassis, stainless steel folding front windscreen, power steering, stainless steel headlight protector grills and a ‘“Mogbox” luggage box have all been added to this car.
