Rare, Highly Desirable 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Coupe
The next breathtaking classic in our Fairfield showroom is this gorgeous 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 2 Door Coupe with white exterior paint, blue racing stripes and a black vinyl interior.  You’ll find a 400 cid Ram Air III V-8 engine under the hood with a 4bbl carburetor and an automatic transmission.  This highly desirable classic is equipped with rare factory options like power steering, power brakes and original air conditioning.  It is in very nice overall condition as well and ready to be enjoyed by a serious collector.
Period Correct L74-Code 400 cid Ram Air III Engine
This 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is highly coveted as the second generation of the model line and the final year to feature the desirable L74-code 400ci Ram Air III engine with 345 horsepower with a 12-bolt rear axle.  Many call it the last true muscle car to roll off Pontiac’s assembly lines for several decades.  This particular example appears to be highly original throughout as a highly optioned muscle car that’s received excellent care throughout its life.  Unfortunately, we do not have ample documentation so we have no idea if it’s numbers-matching or not.  We can tell you that the Ram Air III motor does appear period-correct and in excellent working condition.
Additionally, this 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is in typical driver-level condition with some slight blemishes to the exterior.  It has been repainted once over a decade ago and still shines nicely in person with some visible imperfections.  The factory interior is super clean though and makes an instant impression- all the factory gauges are working properly and the seating/carpeting looks great.  The engine compartment is also highly original in appearance in typical driver quality.  This one isn’t quite show quality today but it wouldn’t take much to get it there.
In terms of performance, this 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Coupe is a real muscle car with fantastic acceleration and plenty of torque to get the job done.  The suspension and handling are also impressive with a very nice ride quality.
Very Nice Condition w/ Exceptional Street Performance
Overall, this rare 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is a fantastic, highly optioned muscle car that is highly original in appearance.  You won’t find a more impressive example anywhere at the current asking price.  For more information about this vehicle, visit our Fairfield, California showroom, give us a call at 707-419-8200, or email us at Sales@SpecialtySales.com.  Be sure to mention Stock # F13345 as well.

About Pontiac

Position in GM Hierarchy:
Distinct Identity: Pontiac occupied a unique place within GM, known for its performance-oriented vehicles and youthful branding.
Mid-Level Brand: Positioned above Chevrolet but below the more upscale divisions such as Oldsmobile, Buick, and Cadillac, Pontiac aimed to offer affordable yet sporty cars.
History and Notable Models:
Pontiac GTO (1964-1974):
Iconic Muscle Car: Considered the first true American muscle car, blending performance and style.
Specifications: V8 engines, powerful performance, and aggressive styling made the GTO immensely popular.
Pontiac Firebird (1967-1981):
Muscle Car and Pony Car: Shared the platform with the Chevrolet Camaro, featuring distinct Pontiac styling cues.
Variants: Offered various models and engine options, including the Trans Am, which gained fame through movies like "Smokey and the Bandit."
Pontiac Grand Prix (1962-2008):
Personal Luxury Car: Initially a full-size car, later transformed into a mid-size model, known for its blend of comfort and performance.
Evolution: Over the years, it transitioned from a performance-oriented car to a more luxurious offering.
Pontiac Bonneville (1957-2005):
Flagship Model: Started as a full-size car, evolving into a luxurious and technologically advanced vehicle.
Innovation: Known for introducing features like fuel injection, making it a symbol of Pontiac's technological advancements.
Impact and Legacy:
Performance Image: Pontiac carved a niche for itself by emphasizing performance, sportiness, and innovation, attracting younger and enthusiast drivers.
Marketing Success: Innovative marketing strategies and successful racing endeavors contributed to Pontiac's popularity and brand image.
Cessation of Production: Unfortunately, due to financial constraints and changes in consumer preferences, GM discontinued the Pontiac brand in 2010, marking the end of its legacy in the automotive industry.
