Pontiac Firebird GTA 5.7 Liter TPI V8 1988

General description : Description
The 1988 Pontiac Firebird GTA was already the true king of Pontiac performance, but this example takes all the driving features you love and also has all the rarest factory features around. That's why it's a cherished low-mileage two-owner example that has spent over a quarter-century with the last caretaker. So when you're looking for that want one fuel-injected V8 classic that will always draw added attention, you need to dig deeper into this notchback coupe.
Gunmetal Gray Metallic is a terrific factory color to have on a car like this, because it gives this one timeless style. Also, since most people in the GTA world opted for one of the reds offered, this is always going to be in rare company. These GTAs had a terrific sporty style with the full body kit, vented hood, and rear spoiler. And the gray paint does a great job of bringing out the added style of the golden touches on the GTA badging, full-length pinstriping, and hallmark crosslace alloy wheels. While the GTA was already different-looking from the T/A, this one is even more unique. A few lucky people dug deeper into their pockets to get the notchback option. This was a specialty piece ordered from the factory that took the rear back glass and gave you a sporty flat hatch with a hint of flying buttress. It makes the car look beautifully different, and it's also exceptionally rare with only 625 notchbacks ever delivered by Pontiac. So when you realize that the GTA is a quite rare machine, and this has the rarest body style in a seldom-seem color, you can start to imagine you may never run into another Pontiac like this ever!
Exceptionally low mileage means little seat time, so the interior looks amazing. And the tones of gray and black harmonize with the exterior for a well-done total appearance inside and out. This full package is loaded direct from the factory. It starts with the new-style bucket seats that include electronic inflatable bolstering for extra comfort in all conditions. Plus, you have power windows, power locks, power steering, cruise control, the premium AM/FM/cassette stereo w/5-band equalizer, and cold-blowing air conditioning. The sports steering wheel is different than most other cars you see, and that's for a good reason. It helps control the optional full digital dash package. It's a rarely-seen feature that gives this Pontiac the kind of tech that would even make KITT jealous.
Under the hood is the optional Corvette-derived L98 5.7-liter fuel-injected V8. This is believed to be original to the car, and the low mileage means you can still see factory decals and markings. The original alternator was replaced, but it is included with the sale (that's just another sign of the fastidious care this two-owner GTA has received.) The V8 fires up nicely like a proper fuel-injected car should. GM's 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission was a good paring because its stout nature can handle the power and torque produced by the range-topping engine. Plus, it's quick shifting nature and overdrive setup made it versatile for everything from street to highway use. The GTA was the king of the streets because it had four-wheel disc brakes and received the desirable WS6 sports suspension as standard.
Complete with owner's manual, you now understand that you're looking at the rarest of the rare. So if you're ready to be this car's third-ever caretaker, call now!
