Since the 356 B models were already in the starting blocks, it was difficult for the last 356 A to be sold. So these vehicles were modified and tuned and sold as “outlaw” in its day. The same fate happened to the 356 A offered here and resulted in a radical conversion by the founder and Porsche specialist Hank Gottfredson, owner of GT Racing in Colorado Springs, as early as the 1970s. The engine was contributed by the legendary engine builder Duane Spencer, author of the “Porsche 356 Performance Manual”. It is a modified 1,720 cc engine with Weber double carburetors, switched by a racing gearbox cluster (BBAA, as per GS Carrera Speedster and 550 Spyder specification) The red tachometer only starts at 7000 rpm. Other extras have been installed such as 993 oil coolers and steel braided lines for oil and brake lines. Front + rear disc brakes, a double master brake cylinder, racing tank with electrical six-volt fuel pump. Next is an oil and fuel pressure gauge and a fuel pressure regulator addition in the engine compartment. The outside also includes a modified carbon engine hood with leather straps, carbon fiber side mirrors and the six-inch wheels Fuchs painted to match the interior. The windows were made to measure Made of polycarbonate, the interior is covered with new, high-quality leather and a beautiful Nardi Steering wheel installed. The side windows are adjusted with leather straps, the rear sides and rear window are made of Macrolon. This 356 A is consequently and radically weight-optimized. This sports car has been part of a French collection since 2015 and accordingly has French vehicle documents. All in all, this Porsche is not suitable for purists and bean counters. About Porsche 356
The Porsche 356 is an iconic sports car that was produced from 1948 to 1965. It is considered to be the first production car to bear the Porsche name and is known for its unique design and exceptional performance.

The 356 was initially designed by Ferdinand Porsche in the late 1940s as a lightweight and nimble sports car that could be used for racing. The first prototypes were built using Volkswagen components, as Porsche was still closely associated with the German automaker at the time. However, the final design of the 356 was a significant departure from the VW Beetle, and featured a sleek, aerodynamic body that was both beautiful and functional.

Over the years, the 356 evolved through several iterations, each of which added new features and improved performance. The early models were powered by a 1.1-liter flat-four engine that produced around 40 horsepower, while later models featured larger engines with up to 130 horsepower.

Despite its humble beginnings, the Porsche 356 quickly became a favorite among driving enthusiasts, both on the road and the racetrack. Its combination of style, performance, and handling made it a true sports car icon, and it helped to establish Porsche as one of the world's leading automakers. Today, the 356 remains a highly sought-after collector's car, with prices that can range from tens of thousands to millions of dollars, depending on the model and condition.
