Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Indianapolis is proud to present this 1971 Porsche 911T Targa for sale! This beautiful example is said to had only 2 owners and underwent a full body restoration with no expense spared!
This US spec example is in incredible shape due to the 2nd owner going on a near 5-year adventure of a restoration. All work being done by Metalcraft Coachwerks in Cincinnati, OH. The car was actually sold new out of Cincinnati as well. Starting under the bonnet, we have the original 2.2L flat six paired to the original 5 speed manual transmission. Both with 87,000 miles on the clock. Interior is mostly original carpeting and dash with original radio. No tears in black leather seats or cracks in dash. The 5-year restoration was focused on the body of the vehicle. It had a full rotisserie performed with all rust repaired throughout entire body. Everything sanded down to bare metal and professionally repainted in the original grand prix white. The targa top was also refurbished. This car was done extremely well and shows it. Documentation is available for all restoration work done to prove this car was done right.

The early Porsche 911 long wheelbase models, also known as the "L" models, were produced from 1968 to 1973. They were named so because of their longer wheelbase, which increased by 2.4 inches from the previous models. The longer wheelbase provided a smoother and more stable ride, and also allowed for more interior space.
The long wheelbase models were powered by air-cooled, flat-six engines, with displacement ranging from 2.0L to 2.4L. They were available in coupe and Targa body styles, and were equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. Notable features of the long wheelbase 911s include their distinctive "ducktail" rear spoiler and Fuchs alloy wheels.
These early 911s are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, pure as swb cars but easier to drive and handling better.
