Sunbeam Alpine 2.3 liter 4-cyl. matching Number engine 1953

General description : Red 1953 Sunbeam-Talbot Alpine Car History Serial# A 3012 881 LRX (Left-hand drive, Roadster, Export) Body STA (Sunbeam-Talbot Alpine) 1169, Engine B1 Pistons (serial # matches Chassis). One of 1250 1953-54 Talbot Alpines; there were 250 made in the last year —1955. This car was one of 8 along with parts and literature I bought from a collector in Pennsylvania in1988. The "Grace Kelly" car (of which we believe there were 2) was one of them, also. A museum had started the restoration so all the body work was done, and the engine has seemed fine for the 30 years I've owned it. I went ahead and had it painted, did the interior (had seats and rugs done professionally), and started driving it a little, but I moved to Oregon in 1997 and I shipped the car there and drove it to many shows and meets while there until 2006 when I moved back here to Texas and had it shipped back, where is now resides. It has been driven less than 50 miles since its return. I also put a new top on it in Oregon (from Electron Top). It was always garaged in Oregon as well as here, with gas stabilizer put in when sitting. The trans shifter is a little sticky (it is the "Authorized" Castle [Kneer] conversion on the floor) and needs lubricating. I ran the exhaust in front of the rear wheel (factory racing) and it needs to be replaced -- I would recommend going to the rear; less noisy. The steering wheel is original and needs some filling and recoloring or total redo ($600 in Washington State). Those are the only things that really need to be addressed-- It has new tires & brakes (all wheel cylinders replaced from 2017) and the electric system has been updated last year with soldered ends on most wiring. All fluids were also changed. It does have some minor de-laminating of the paint and the skim of bondo in front of the rear wheels where it had the typical Alpine rust (where 3 panels meet). Of course, it is British and will leak some fluid, especially when it sits over the 2 coldest months of the year, but even my newly restored Alpine ”Special" is leaking stuff in the winter when everything contracts. I have all the pertinent paperwork on the car and it has a clear Oregon title in my name (and it has a permanent Oregon Antique Plate, nice to have!). The price would be $37,500 in American Dollars, shipping not included and cash or wire transfer only accepted. So far, the highest price paid for one of these was $92,000 a couple of months ago. One I had owned and restored by the gentleman who restored my “Special”, sold for $88,000 2 years ago in Florida. Cheers!
