Allgemeine Beschreibung : Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1930 Austin Seven ‘Chummy’ AE Tourer For Sale.

Chassis no: 104987
Engine no: M106241
The Austin Seven was a huge success from the moment deliveries commenced in January 1923, the Austin Seven remained in production until 1939. Well built, economical and easily maintained by the home mechanic, the Seven brought motoring within the financial reach of the man in the street, who hitherto would probably have settled for a motorcycle combination.
Its introduction helped save the ailing Austin concern and by the mid-1920s the Seven dominated the light car market in Britain. The sole version available when production commenced was the 'Chummy' tourer, which today remains for many enthusiasts the quintessential Seven and is highly sought after.
PG 7047 was first registered on the 3rd March 1930, if we were going from a build date the title would start with 1929. Supplied new by Reigate garage to a Lady in Epson. She held onto the Chummy for 34 years before selling to Mr Longley in 1964. A builder by trade Longley held onto her until 1983 before hands passed to the third owner who can be accredited for the condition you see her in today. Through his tenure he fully rebuilt PG 7047. A fully body off, nut and bolt restoration was carried out and completed to the highest of standards.
The engine was rebuilt by the known expert Mike Hodgson and since this point the engine has always run beautifully without losing or using oil. Recent works include a dynamo rebuild.
PG 7047 is offered in beautiful condition, the body is finished in a deep shade of blue and the wings/running boards are finished in black. All paint work has a high polish finish with no significant scratches or blemishes.
Being an Austin Seven Chummy I can not talk about the fancy brightwork, bumpers or moulding, but in this case less is certainly more. PG 7047’s exterior is enhanced by the smaller details such as the Austin radiator badge, the Boyce Motormeter sitting on top of the radiator and tax disk holder which is currently fitted with a re-make of the original disk.
The interior is much the same story as the interior, no fancy door cards or hidden compartments, but after all the was “the motor for the millions” apposed to “the motor for the millionaires”. Although there is simplicity one thing clearly shines through and that is quality! All the correct instruments and plaques are aligned neatly across the width of the dashboard, the trim work is finished to a very high standard with beautifully fluted leather to the seat backs. The pram hood is also in excellent condition and benefits from addition of side screens.
In our showroom and ready for viewing.
