While Buick’s postwar lineup was still based upon its prewar designs, the mildly revised 1946–1948 models garnered very strong public favor nonetheless. With the proven overhead valve Dynaflash straight eight, fully coil-sprung suspensions, and Harley Earl-supervised styling with fade-away front fenders, broad grilles, and remarkably restrained bright-trim accents, these cars remain collector staples today. During that era, the Series 50 Super Estate Wagon, with handsome Woodie bodywork by Michigan’s Ionia Manufacturing Company, topped Buick’s mid-tier offerings with a factory price of nearly $2,600. Just 2,036 of them, including five for export, were produced for 1947. This Woodie is a Series 50; Model 59, 110-hp, 248-cid OHV Dynaflash inline eight-cylinder engine with three-speed column-mounted manual transmission. The rarity of this vehicle in todays market makes this beautiful Buick a real gem. The history of this Buick has left its footprint in automotive history and will always be a high value vehicle.
