This 1971 Chevrolet C10 will attract plenty of attention by virtue of its inspired paint scheme and tasteful modifications, but it's got more to offer than just its visual impact. It also features just the right collection of comfort and convenience features that pair with its strong-running and well-configured drivetrain to make it an absolute pleasure to drive as well.
By the time this '71 rolled out, Chevy was well into its second generation of C10s and had made it a priority to give them a stouter, more rugged look to set them apart from their predecessors. It would prove to be a wise move, as the new line not only enjoyed strong sales success, but has since become a favorite among custom truck enthusiasts. The intricate paint scheme on this classic makes good use of Chevy's redesign work, with its maroon shade surrounding the lower portion of the truck before giving way to silver that's set apart by a sweeping accent on the sides and back. The cowl hood up front adds an aggressive touch to the mix, while the standout billet front grille as well as the overall badging-deleted appearance, really allows the paint to take center stage while giving this vintage Chevy truck a very effective air of customization. A thorough collection of clear factory gauges sits in a very clean textured instrument panel, while the JVC AM/FM/CD stereo at the center also offers iPod compatibility and teams with relatively new speakers to guarantee that your audio will be very much on point. The air conditioning is running strong through a set of underdash vents to keep things comfortable inside. The liner protecting the bed in back has done its job well - while you can see that this a working truck and not a trailer queen, there are no serious scuffs or divots in sight.
Things are looking impressive just underneath that cowl hood. The 350 cubic inch crate V8 sitting at the center of the engine compartment carries an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb and intake manifold and benefits from a chrome dress-up kit that has its components looking their best, highlighted by the clean, glossy black surfaces of the inner fenders and firewall. Having logged just about 25,000 miles since its installation, the engine is very much in its prime and teams with a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission that provides a welcome overdrive gear for low revs at highway speeds. Power steering makes this sharp-looking Chevy easy to navigate, while power brakes that feature discs up front bring its Torq Thrust wheels to a dependable stops.
