Founded when a hardcore enthusiast elicited the help of a Polish plane manufacturer, the firm is well-known for creating precision tributes that, in roller form, currently fetch $100K. Purchased in late 2016 by its current owner, this Kirkham 427 KMS/SC recently benefitted from $23,500 of professional sorting that was performed by Placentia, California's Voss Performance. That plane floods hot aluminum heads that are built with Comp retainers, Smith Brothers pushrods, Comp springs and traditional Cobra Le Mans valve covers. Beneath those heads, a honed block cages a polished 4340 crank between Diamond Racing pistons, H-beam connecting rods and a full suite of Federal-Mogul bearings. Those pistons, wrapped in Mahle rings, frame Crane hydraulic roller lifters and a custom Comp hydraulic roller cam. At the front of that cam, a quality MSD distributor sequences spark between an MSD Blaster SS coil, MSD 6AL ignition and loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Beneath those wires, powder-coated headers roll charred dinosaurs in to stainless, powder-coated side-pipes. In front of those tubes, Ford Racing timing components complement a polished Edelbrock water pump that, along with a polished alternator, spins behind polished Concept One pulleys. Speaking of water, a big aluminum radiator circulates coolant around a 12-inch SPAL puller fan, polished tubes and a polished Kirkham expansion tank. Speaking of fluids, lubrication is handled by a quality Melling oil pump. And top notch accessories, like billet tanks, K&N breathers, ARP fasteners and a deep Kirkham oil pan, add just the right amount of detail to the car's striped and polished engine bay.
IT'S EVEN POLISHED ON THE BOTTOM
One of the best things about buying a professionally engineered Cobra tribute is the impressive hardware underneath. Fully sorted and completely detailed, this Kirkham's polished, ladder-style frame and billet, fully independent suspension are ready to hit the toughest track you can find.
