Lincoln Continental Mark VI 4.6 liter DOHC V8 1995

Allgemeine Beschreibung : Desirable LSC model. 45,275 original miles. Beautiful color combination. All options including power sunroof and chrome wheels. Everything works, including fully functional air suspension. The greatest luxury/performance coupe of the ‘90s, ready to go!

Horsepower was back on the menu in the 1990s and by the time this beautiful 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC was built, the line between luxury and performance was getting blurry indeed. Ford’s move to overhead cam engines was a big part of the horsepower renaissance and the 4.6-liter V8 in the Mark VIII was one of the most sophisticated engines you could buy. Wrapped in sleek coupe bodywork, the Lincoln was unlike anything else on the market and made cars like the Eldorado look downright frumpy. Bathed in stunning Garnet Red tri-coat paint, this Mark VIII is exceptionally well preserved and beautifully maintained. It has never seen winter weather and with just two owners it has always been treated as something of value. Fit and finish are quite good and aside from the front bumper, which was repainted recently to remedy some chips, is original and in fantastic condition. Of course, it’s approaching its 30th birthday so there are a few signs of use and age, but we haven’t seen a nicer Mark VIII in a long time. The chrome and stainless trim—what little there is—is in excellent condition and the spare tire bump on the deck lid is a call-back to the Continentals of yore.

The tan leather interior was state-of-the-art for 1995 and included every comfort and convenience feature Ford could imagine. The deeply bolstered buckets are all day comfortable and there were very few better high-speed cruisers than this Lincoln in 1995. There’s a bit of wear on the driver’s outer bolsters, but no splits or tears in the leather, and the rest of the interior is excellent. The two-tone dash wraps around the entire interior, putting big analog gauges in front of the driver and secondary controls in the center console. Everything was included: automatic climate control, trip computer, power windows, locks, mirrors, and seats, cruise control, rear defrost, and a powerful AM/FM/CD/cassette stereo that still sounds pretty good. Everything works like it should and even the faux wood on the center stack is pretty convincing. The back seat is actually big enough for real-sized passengers and there’s also a good-sized trunk with a cargo net and CD changer.

But the real reason these cars are so enjoyable to drive is under the hood: a 4.6 liter DOHC V8 with 32 valves and 280 horsepower. Today that may not seem amazing, but it gives the LSC the moves of a Mustang and makes it a superb high-speed cruiser. It also makes the most wonderful sounds, including a muted V8 exhaust note that sounds like ripping silk. With just 45,000 miles on it, this one remains in excellent condition with no issues, and these engines have a reputation for durability and easy maintenance. It has been recently serviced so it’s 100% ready to go. The 4-speed automatic transmission offers up quick shifts and a tall overdrive that works with the LSC’s optional 3.27 rear gears to make it effortless at high speeds. For a 4000-pound coupe, it moves like a much smaller car thanks to that wondrous engine, and the LSC’s standard air suspension is a great blend of luxury feel and reasonable handling. You can see just how clean this car is underneath and is so original that even the exhaust system is factory-installed. The full independent suspension was a big deal for 1995 and there are 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS for confident stopping power. 16-inch aluminum wheels are chrome plated for some flash and carry brand new 225/60/16 Goodyear radials.

Factory owner’s manuals are included, along with the original window sticker and purchase documents.

The Mark VIII was the last of Lincoln’s Continental coupes, which is a shame. Fortunately, they decided to go out with a bang, as the LSC offers Mustang-like performance with incomparable luxury. For the 1990s, this car feels remarkably poised and civilized and the rounded styling has aged quite well. If you were there, you remember how awesome these cars were and if not, this is your chance to discover something pretty amazing. Call today!
