This 1954 Chevrolet 3100 looks like a well-done classic with vivid paint. But as you get closer, you can see that the investments go much deeper. With a fuel-injected V8, upgraded suspension, and a custom interior, this is where classic style meets a modern cruiser.
The '54 pickups always have added desirability with the redesigned that was only available at the very end of the Advance Design era. But the desirability here is turned up a notch. Over the past five years this pickup has gone through a total transformation, and it all starts with the paint. Chevy could give you red in 1954, but this modern clearcoat application has the kind of vibrant look that can send you nostalgia into overdrive. And the sun loves to roll over the soft big fender curves. Everywhere you look, you can tell there was an extra investment in this truck to make it top notch - from the rubber window moldings to the glossy lumber in the bed. And the brightwork is terrific everywhere from the distinct grille to the like-new trim. While you're admiring the awesome color-matched wheels with two-piece trim and whitewalls, also take a look at how the tires are a little bit wider and the stance is a little lower. It hints at the subtly upgraded nature of this truck.
The interior is fresh, stylish, and quite custom. The bucket seats have a low-back classic look, but they offer the kind of modern bolstering to make this pickup all-day comfortable. The houndstooth cloth inserts are eye-catching and pay tribute to some great-looking Chevys that came after this pickup. Even the door panels were done to match. And it all feels fresh because this was restored less than 450 miles ago. This was built to be a driver with a custom two-tone steering wheel that has a smaller diameter than stock. It's mounted on a tilt column so you can get a good view at the full Dolphin gauge package. There's even an upgraded stereo and cold R134a air conditioning to keep this a great all-day driver.
The engine bay continues this trucks clean and tidy look. The ultra-smooth firewall and inner fenders really funnel all your attention to the V8 power within. Polished components and clean hoses make it easy to show off the V8 upgrade wherever you park. But this kind of addition is also about elevating the driving experience, too. It's a 350 cubic-inch crate motor that has been enhanced with a Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system. So that means you get both good power and a steadfast heart. It even has the right supporting pieces, including an aluminum radiator for better cooling, and shorty headers on the dual exhaust for a terrific tune. As you look underneath this truck, it shows you more of the fresh components that come from a quality build. You'll also notice the Ridetech shocks and upgraded Mustang II-style front end with tubular A-arms. Add power steering, power brakes, and front discs w/drilled & slotted rotors, and you can just imagine how easily this one will cruise near or far.
