Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 European version, Matching Numbers, very original (0) 1967

Allmän beskrivning : Everyone has their limits. The Ferrari GT 2+2 was Enzo Ferrari’s limit when making a 4-passenger Ferrari. A 4-door sedan was out of the question for “Il Commendatore" bar a prototype and one off here and there. It has remained the Ferrari way up to today and only will be broken when the 365 GT 2+2’s grandchild, the Ferrari Purosangue is released. Our Ferrari 365 2+2 is an original European supplied car in great original condition. Good care has saved this car from ever needing full restoration. The original bodywork has lovely thin, correctly aligned panelwork. It has had a cosmetic re-spray and both bodywork and paintwork have held up very well with only minor signs of use. The Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 was the first Ferrari to be fitted with self levelling suspension Koni’s. Lifelong client and Enzo Ferrari's good friend, the Dutch Prince Bernhard of Oranje Nassau, persuaded Enzo to use the Dutch shock breaker company after driving one of royal's Ferrari’s fitted with Koni’s. The Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 was the first model to benefit from this pioneering technique. The suspension configuration in combination with the long wheel base created the perfect Grand Tourer. The press lauded the 365 when it was introduced for its spacious cabin and good roadholding. The press were unanimous that this car was roomier than its competitors even by today’s standards it is still very practicable. Of course they also rather liked the triple Weber 4.4 litre Colombo V12 engine. The engine excels in a smooth delivery of power. With 330 Ps this is still a very fast car. It has a 5-speed manual gearbox. The original, matching numbers V12 runs lovely and sounds superb. The transmission and clutch action is precise. The character of the full authentic interior trim absolutely jumps out and suits this Italian "Gran Tourismo" intended purpose to a tee. Although the Ferrari 365 2+2 one of the best selling Ferrari models was at the time, the total output of only 800 was quite modest. Currently there are a lot fewer left and the Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 is consequently still a rare sight. In short this is a wonderful and exceptionally original Ferrari 365 GT 2+2. Den första Ferrari väg bil var de 125 S introducerades 1947 och drivs av en 1,5 L V12 motor, eller hur?
Tja det är inte riktigt så enkelt, Ferrari faktiskt producerar e Tipo 815, 1940 Tipo 815 ritades av ex-Alfa Romeo ingenjörer Alberto Massimino och Vittorio Bellentani och Enrico Nardi enligt Enzo sällskap men juridiska frågor med det tidigare intresse Alfa Romeo hindrade Ferrari från att lansera Ferrari marque vid den punkten.

Enzo fick fram en rad fina väg bilar på 50-talet och 60-talet, men de var bara för att finansiera sin passion racing, väder GT / Sportbil eller Grand Prix. 50-talet såg födelsen av Ferraris mest minnesvärda bilar, 250 GTB (tour de France) 250 Testa Rossa, 250 GT SWB bara för att nämna några.

Under ytspänningen växte dock. I November 1961 erfaren försäljningschef Girolamo Gardini gjorde ett ultimatum till Enzo: om spänningar fortsatte skulle han lämna företaget. Som ett resultat var Gardini avsattes, liksom Scuderia Ferrari manager Romolo Tavoni, överingenjör Carlo Chiti, experimentell sportbil utveckling chief Giotto Bizzarrini, och ett antal andra, som stod vid dem.
Utan Chiti och Bizzarrini utvecklingen av vad som skulle bli den mest kvintessensen Ferrari och idag världens dyraste bil, 250 GTO, var vid en svängpunkt. 250 GTO projekt räddades av en ung ingenjör Mauro Forghieri och lång tid racing bodyman Sergio Scaglietti som klev in och tog över programmet med kända resultat.

I slutet av 60-talet Ferraris prototyper framgång fick ett abrupt stopp av en ny konkurrent, GT40. Ford vände sig till Lola för att producera en Ferrari slog långdistans racer efter Enzo hade klippt affären av med Henry Ford II gör det senare absolut koka av vrede. Samarbetet mellan Ford och Lola skapade den mäktiga Ford GT40 som gav Ferrari några tunga hits i Le Mans 24 framöver.
I slutet av 60-talet FIAT köpte 50% av bolaget, med start en utveckling som har lett till en ny massproducerade era av Ferraris.
