This Aquamarine beauty is the real deal 442 with what appears to be the correct 400ci engine (casting# 390925E) with a 4-barrel carburetor. So we have one of the 4s. The next one is the 4-Speed Muncie transmission that works like it should from the factory (casting# 3885010). 4+4 The next to complete the puzzle is the Dual exhaust complimented with dual Flowmaster mufflers. 4+4+2=442. This is a stunning looking and excellent running machine. It is very easy to drive with all of the comfort and mechanicals doing their job. The stated mileage is not accurate. The 400 under the hood is of course painted in Olds Gold and is known for being a bullet proof engine for Oldsmobile. It is topped with a Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor. The valve covers and decal correct breather are chrome. The engine compartment is very clean and well managed. Other components under the vented hood are power steering, power brakes to give you one-finger operation. Just like back in the day. Inside is a gorgeous black bucket seat interior. The Hurst shifter sits nicely off of the drivers right hand. The carpet looks as it would coming off of the factory floor and the headliner looks like it was done yesterday. The dashpad and dash facia, door panels (all in great shape) will take you back a few years just noticing a little something made of metal inside of a car. The exterior really comes together with the beautiful Aquamarine paint, the BF Goodrich tires and the 15 Cragar Wheels. Vår berättelse börjar 1897 när en man vid namn Ransom Eli Olds grundade Olds Motor Vehicle Company. Han var inte den förste att bygga bilar, men han var en pionjär inom massproduktionsteknik. Men kanske toppen av Oldsmobiles excellens kom under 1960-talet med Oldsmobile 4-4-2, en bil som både var sportig och praktisk. 4-4-2 stod för 4-fackskarburator, 4-växlad manuell växellåda och dubbla avgassystem. Den var en muskelbil för dem som ville ha kraft utan att offra komfort. Den var själva inkarnationen av muskelbilar i Amerika.

Sedan fanns Oldsmobile Cutlass, en bil som blev en amerikansk institution. Den var en familjesedan, en sportbil och en lyxbil i ett. Cutlass var pålitlig, bekväm och mångsidig, vilket gjorde den till en av de mest sålda bilarna i amerikansk fordonsindustris historia.

Tyvärr mötte Oldsmobile utmaningar under åren och varumärket som en gång var ett symbol för amerikansk fordonsinnovation och excellens slutade produktionen år 2004. Det markerade slutet på en era.

Men Oldsmobiles arv lever vidare i hjärtat hos bilentusiaster, samlare och alla som uppskattar klassiska amerikanska bilar.
