Trade-in car. This will make a great project. This BSA Scout is in need of attention. It is also a great base to restore this British 4-seater roadster back to her former glory. In 1936 the BSA Scout was the odd one out as far as drive was concerned. Whilst most 30’s cars had rear-wheel drive the Scout had front-wheel drive. BSA already had some experience with front-wheel drive with its 3-wheeler. The BSA Scout has a straight 4-cylinder engine with side mounted valves delivering about 25 Hp. It has a manual 3-speed gearbox. As mentioned above, this car forms a perfect base to create a lovely Scout. As far as we have been able to ascertain the vehicle is complete including an extra engine and many spare parts. The car was initially supplied in the UK and was owned by the same person for the last 21 years. Circumstances sadly prevented the owner from restoring the car. The neat bodywork is rust-free with correct alignment. The rock solid chassis is in very good order. The paintwork has faded somewhat but is certainly not beyond rescue. The lovely original interior trim has fine red carpets and red leather seats. The whole of the interior is neat and needs no more than a bit of elbow grease to preserve the fine patina. The wooden dashboard is neat. The doors are all present and in good condition. The wire wheels are good and suit the red leather interior. The engine is situated in the car, but needs completing using the spare parts. A new exhaust forms part of the itinerary. Clearly the car at the very least will need a very thorough service to get her going again once fixed. The extensive amount of technical manuals and club magazines that will help fixing the car are the icing on the cake. The BSA Scout still has a great following who will readily welcome a new enthusiast into their club. A very special car and really a perfect staring point to create a very nice Scout again.
